This is going to sound incredibly stupid of me and I know you's are not associated with the Jedi from the movies but if we did we have a temple or a great meeting would we wear Jedi robes/clothes? *Minus the Lightsaber*

Symbolism is an important part of any religion. A lot of people on this website have their own opinions and beliefs, and many will say 'we don't want to be associated with the films. At the end of the day though, we were inspired by them and we still have quite a few ties to the fiction.
I think it would be an excellent idea for us to adopt the robes. Many people will have negative opinions at first, but it it's not the attire which dictates our actions. Through time, people will begin to associate the robes with our order and our good actions and the film will be forgotten.
But it's down to your perspective in the end. I agree and the church will never enforce the idea. But they don't discourage either.

Jedi Robes haven't been and I doubt will ever be required attire of TOTJO.org.

How ever look at the word I used. "required" That means that your free to wear what ever you like. TOTJO.org in no way dictates what your allowed to wear as an individual.

I love the above message I've been thinking that same thing for a few months now as a desire for the order. Not just robes, but any symbol of the Jedi that people would identify us and have a positive connotation. Back to the point though I am so very much for us having our temple that I would definitely donate what little I could spare to help it get started whether it comes in the form of a regular church or a monastery. Having a physical personal relationship with masters and knights and padawans seems to me like it could be vastly beneficial. Guided discussions, group meditation, physical training of our bodies. Just to see the Jedi come together like that would make it so much more real, so much more personal. Not to mention there could be so much more impact on the community in that way. Jedi could go out and do all kinds of volunteer work in groups big or small. Communities near the temple I think would be vastly benefited. It just seems so beautiful to me. We are not a cloistered order so I really suspect that a temple would not only benefit us as Jedi, but I think it would help to make a little corner of the world happier and more peaceful for everyone.

All of what you're saying here will doubtless happen in time. But until we have enough money to afford to keep this website running above the bare minimum I'm not sure anything will happen quickly

Hypothetical situations like this are nice and they show enthusiasm which is awesome :), but please don't set yourself up to be disappointed :)

Oh... we'll see. If my plan gains popular support, we could realistically break ground on a physical temple next year, and have a functional physical temple by 2014 for a smaller scale project and 2015 if someone listens to my designs.

Plan's been 86ed, the physical temples can remain in our imaginations forever, I guess.

I really dont think we should kill this topic on that note lets leave it open ended for now. If enough of us will it The Force will find a way.

Yes, you are quite right Farthing....

And it may happen someday....

But as we have trouble getting donations to keep TOTJO afloat, unless a Jedi hits the lottery for a considerable sum, it may take a long while....

Bluesummer's comment was aimed at his purposed fund raising idea...

Without going into too much detail, it was deemed not appropriate for the TOTJO site....

You can search for it if like, but enough has been said on this off-topic subject...:)

On walk-about...

Sith ain't Evil...
Jedi ain't Saints....
