Actual Churches?

I was just wondering if there is any actual Academies or Churches that exist for Jedissm? If so, where? and how do they operate?

We are an internationally registered and recognised Church, incorporated in the state of Texas Dec 25th 2005 (so it's almost our 6th birthday!!). As such we are entitled to ordain ministers and provide relevant education.

If you wish to learn more about Jediism as practices at TOTJO, we provide the Initiate's Programme, an apprenticeship scheme, and further education in the form of the Degree Qualification Scheme.

Our clergy have undertaken additional training and have been ordained as Ministers to tend to the spiritual and pastoral needs of our members.

So in a word. No.

Temple of the Jedi Order has no 'real' churches or temples other than this website, which contains everything you need, and that which is within yourself.

... but if some of us started building them, I wonder if there'd be a set of different names for different styles of establishment. Temple is synonymous with church etc, but if TOTJO members started building local church's we could in the future elect to rank the type of building, maybe something like;

Grand Temple = planetary HQ; admin/worship/training
Temple = continental HQ; worship/training
Basilica = national HQ; admin/worship/training
Cathedral = large local place; worship/training
Church = small local place; worship/training

Just thinking out loud again. The real Temple is the Force itself, any physical structures would just be compatible gathering places.

actually what could be cool is a type of place for a jedi retreat. Like a camp or function over several days to gather, discuss learn train. Would be very cool

My family is actually in the process of trying to aquire some land. Looking at this piece of property I envisioned a building in the shape of the TOTJO logo. The land still needs to be purchased but this is a goal I'd like to see happen in the future. Along with a TOTJO Los Angeles.

I believe a Physical Temple would be a very beneficial addition to the Order. It would allow for our brothers, and sisters to actually meet in person. It would give us all a chance to discuss our beliefs with one another, train, become more familiar with each other and give us a place to meditate without a reliance on technology. It would give people a place to travel to, a pilgrimage if you will. With an actual Temple we could form groups that would go out to help others. I would like an official conderation and discussion by the council on this matter. I would be more than willing to help in any way I could with this, as I am sure others would as well. There are alot of possibilities with obtaining a Temple, I am eager to see what the reponse would be.

In a different thread I was in favor of a physical Temple.

So many things would have to be considered.

There can be only one Grand Master (just as in the Lucas expanded universe or as in "POPE")
There would have to be a Council of Masters as a board of directors so to speak
There would have to be a Council of Temple Masters created by the Masters of each individual Temple location.

So many items to discuss let alone the overall scheme of how the buildings are going to be designed. this would have to have the councils approval plus....LOTS OF WORK AND DISCUSSIONS.

But I'm in favor of the concept.

The more Jedi we get in LA, the more it will become a reality. It's a vision of mine. I want it to happen!
