Well, here in Los Angeles we have the Self Relization Fellowship center. I don't know if anybody's read "autobiography of a yogi" but the Paramahasa Yogananda built an extraordinarily beautiful garden, temple retreat center on sunset

Great place. Very serene. The grounds keeping is expensive but immaculate.

Im big into the concept of sustainable practices. We don't need large fancy garden and perfectly trimmed grass. What we should have is vegetables, chickens, sheep, goats, fish. I've always wanted try aquaponics. You keep edible fish in one area and use the waste water from the fish to fertilize vegetables in another area and it's all connected to one system. Stuff like that is fun to put together.

Someplaces online believe the StarWars Temple was meant to have been built over a small mountain. That is an interesting idea, perhaps a small volcanic plug with lots of caves caused by the molten flow would make an really interesting Temple 'core' - with the building structure encassed around the outside. As long as its underlying fault has long moved on, unless your into geothermal power sources and really trusting of mother nature

Don't forget, the Force is with them. Why should they not build a temple on top of a volcano.

This topic has been discussed many times before, in various other threads on the forum and the same problems keep coming up. To successfully represent each of our members, there would need to be a Temple in each of their countries. How would a UK Jedi feel if the only Temple was in the US, for example?

It's a wonderful idea and in the future it may well happen but until then we have all we need here at thiss virtual Temple.

Besides, how are we going to raise the funding for such a project when even our monthly website hosting bill is not being funded. Br.John has to pay for the majority of the bill to keep this site afloat and people still aren't reaching in their pockets to support that. If that's the example we have to go on, how on Earth are we going to then build something physical?

I've mentioned before that fundraising events are helpful instead of just relying on people to give you what you need sporadically. If we had physical churches, we'd just pass around an offering plate lol.

I believe that an actual church is not needed. It would, however, be nice to have a place for gatherings, learning and administrative purposes.

I could see having a large plot of land in the mountains with a learning center located there. The center could have a library, common room and offices for the different departments of administration. Maybe even a small kitchen. Members could come and camp-out, hold award ceremonies and the administration would have somewhere to hold research materials, TOTJO merchandise.

Even if the land was donated to TOTJO, there would have to be taxes paid on it every year and upkeep for any structure. TOTJO would either need a well off Benefactor or reliable donations.

Maybe totjo should look into the church of scientology's business model. It's time to turn "initiate" into "24/7 labour that costs even less than chinese kids". Then we could get a luxury retreat thing for our VIP members.

Or we can just keep things as they are. We've got John's house, except he also lives there. The plus side is that we don't have to pay for the housekeeping.
