Which reinforces to me it would need to be special on some way, whether its the design, location or services offered etc, otherwise they are just places to meet and might not require to be dedicated to those intermittent occasions. I do like though using the term Temple to refer to that special place, wherever it is.... inside you, a devoted room, or one day a dedicated facility.

Business plan's might deserve their own thread. If people had a vision to build a plan with measurable outputs, that are Jedi-ish, then places like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation at http://www.gatesfoundation.org have a history of supporting pilot projects that are non-profit.

I wonder if something with the title Jedi would be denied funding based on its name and its not being affiliated with LucasFilm.

Do you imagine companies or foundations would NOT want to get involved with that?

I do not know the legal side of the word Jedi, but funding could be packaged as being for a project/program and not for the organisation that might be operating it perhaps, meaning you could call it whatever is suitable/descriptive.

The trademark on Jedi is for fictional characters, action figures, games and the like. It does not apply for religious or realist purposes.

So, we can name a Jedi Church... just not sell T-shirts with the name Jedi Church on it?

We can sell shirts and various things with our name on them. Our name does not infringe on any trademark.

So what does? Or, better yet, where can you find this kind of information?

If this was a place that you could live for the rest of your life etc then I would go. I might not stay forever of course, but I would at least try it out and live there
