Most of us would say that "training" is a good thing. Training is to go through some facsimile situations - on the tatami, in the field, in the classroom, wherever - in order to be better prepared for spontaneous like situations when they arise.

There are very few Jedi who would say that "training" is useless.

Vaccines are like "training" for the immune system. A weaker concentration of the infection is introduced into the organism so that the immune system - one's own natural immune system - confronts exposure to the infecting agent and thus 'learns' to deal with the infection itself.

We have learned that "training" is not always safe, but it is better than going into situations 'cold'.

We used to say that the way to wipe out the human race was going to be the realease of a biological agent...

Instead, I wonder if it will be a natural disease that we have forgotten about and quit worrying about...

Just talking, not focused on whether or not kit vaccinates her kids and herself...

Measles cluster under investigation in Palatine

By The Associated Press
Posted Feb. 5, 2015 at 12:08 PM

PALATINE — Public health officials say they are investigating a cluster of measles cases in suburban Chicago.
The Illinois and Cook County public health departments said Thursday morning that the cluster includes five children under age 1 at KinderCare Learning Center in Palatine. Lab test confirm measles in two of the children. Test results are pending for the other three children but they have been diagnosed based on clinical and epidemiological criteria.
Officials say at this time they don't know the source of the infection. Measles is a highly contagious respiratory disease with a characteristic rash.
Public health officials say students, staff and faculty at the facility have been notified and anyone who hasn't been vaccinated for measles has been instructed to stay away from unvaccinated individuals for the next three weeks.

When it comes to social issues I'm truly a card carrying 'tree hugging, bleeding heart liberal'...however, I think that the only way to prevent anti-vaccination people from continuing this thinking is to send them to a third world country that doesn't have these vaccines. They then can see the suffering that happens and decide if vaccines are still harmful.

I found this today.

Vaccines are safe, though I'm not here to convince you of that. Countless scientists and doctors have already presented evidence for over a century that vaccines work. They save the lives of kids, families, and whole communities. At this point no amount of logical argument or proof will convince McCarthy and her ilk that vaccines are safe. Studies show that confronting anti-vaxxers or climate change deniers with logic only makes them more defensive and thus more deeply entrenched in their positions. So why do we continue to use logic with the anti-vaccination movement? After all, the movement's modern founding text, a 1998 paper by British doctor Andrew Wakefield, was retracted and deemed fraudulent. Wakefield was even stripped of his medical license. But this has only strengthened the resolve of the anti-vaxxers in their belief that the medical establishment doesn't want people to know "the truth."

Imagine this.

You like cheese.

Cheese is awesome.

Then dairy farmers find out they can dramatically increase their yield if they feed the cattle huge amounts of strontium 90, a radioactive isotope of strontium.

Now all your cheese glows in the dark and causes cancer.

When you point out, hey maybe feeding cows radioactive elements and then making cheese from their milk is probably a bad idea, the dairy industry frames you as anti dairy, when in reality you love cheese. You think cheese is awesome, just not cheese that can be located 5 blocks away with a Geiger counter.

The vaccine debate has been framed similarly.

We know what mercury does to the brain:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xf6uCw2ztxw

(video care of University of Calgary)

Putting mercury in vaccines, even if it doesn't cause autism is a really stupid idea.

So is using dental amalgams made of mercury.

Remember they used to tell us that it never leaked out into the body?

"Mercury from dental "silver" tooth fillings impairs sheep kidney function."

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1928419

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ylnQ-T7oiA

Here you can watch mercury tooth fillings leak mercury vapor when heated even slightly.

Even if vaccines don't cause autism, getting mercury injections is still about as stupid as eating cheese contaminated with strontium 90, so is filling our teeth it.

Remember the Romans sweetened their wine with sugar of lead (Lead (II) acetate) produced by boiling grapes in lead pots.

Just because you don't want to eat fruits and vegetables sprayed with potent neurotoxins, doesn't mean you are against fruits and vegetables.

Just because you against getting a shots of a potent neurotoxin, that doesn't mean you are anti-vaccine.

Thimerosal in Vaccines

FDA wrote: Thimerosal has been removed from or reduced to trace amounts in all vaccines routinely recommended for children 6 years of age and younger, with the exception of inactivated influenza vaccine (see Table 1). A preservative-free version of the inactivated influenza vaccine (contains trace amounts of thimerosal) is available in limited supply at this time for use in infants, children and pregnant women. Some vaccines such as Td, which is indicated for older children (≥ 7 years of age) and adults, are also now available in formulations that are free of thimerosal or contain only trace amounts. Vaccines with trace amounts of thimerosal contain 1 microgram or less of mercury per dose.

And it goes on about the differences in types of mercury, the safety of methylmercury, and there's even a chart on which vaccines have thimerosal in them and why it has been approved for use.

http://www.rxlist.com/flulaval-drug.htm

Each 0.5-mL dose from the multi-dose vial contains 50 mcg thimerosal ( < 25 mcg mercury); thimerosal, a mercury derivative, is added as a preservative.

Yup they took out the mercury.

Even the mercury free vaccines contain 8 times less than that they are not free from mercury.

I am not making the claim that vaccines are bad, or that they cause autism. Just that that mercury is one of the most potent neurotoxins known, and intentionally injecting yourself with any amount of it is beyond idiotic.

It's about as dumb as spraying your fruits and vegetables with neurotoxins and eating them, or using lead II acetate to sweeten your wine, or any number of idiotic things.

If you think mercury isn't so bad I urge you to see exactly what it does to your brain for yourself:

(Not intending to start anything here, but it needs to be said)

Just a quick pointer: Thimerosal is not mercury, methymercury is not mercury, ethylmercury is not mercury, and the list goes on

If you think that periodic mercury and mercury contained in a compound are the same thing and have the same results, then you clearly need to go back and redo high school chemistry.

Another note, you get a higher natural dosage of mercury by eating a tuna fish sandwich than you would in all vaccines containing thimerosal or other mercury compounds combined.

We don't live in the dark ages anymore. It's the 21st century. Do your research, and make sure you think before you post things.
