You can build your own throught detail schemes found online via internet. or you can commission someone to build one.

I just want to take the time to remind anyone and everyone that there are no real lightsabers. Nevertheless, we can create the next best things, with LED blades, some even durable enough to actually duel with and not worry about breaking.

Which I'd probably recommend, if you plan on dueling with them.

Mostly, though, I think there for ceremonial purposes.

Whatever you go for, I'd recommend a removable blade so you can go with it at your side (bladeless) for special occasions, but on other occasions (say, a wedding or a knighting ceremony) you can wield it with the blade.

I use the term \"blade\" loosely for real lightsabers, but you know what I mean.

Before the lightsaber you must learn how to use a blade. Patience is the most important thing to be a jedi. Remember this attention.

But please dont practice at home with a sharp weapon start with training weapons, and work your way up.

The following is an extract from an article i posted elsewhere, and is based on information found easily on the net. Essentially it is for 'Child Safe' lightsabres... dont be fooled by the name, I learned how to use katana based on something similar, be fore moving onto Bokken, Shinai and so on n so forth. As said, if your gonna play with weapons, take care, such things are designed to maim, kill etc so as with any martial art type activity, seek professional coaching and treat such things and related tools with utmost respect. Even a polycarbonate or plastic tube has the capability to do alot of harm if misused, no one is immortal or immune to death/injury.

Finally, if you must duel with replica sabres, please be careful and be sure the blades are upto the job, its also suggested participants wear safety glasses and other protection. It is suggested if desired, that profession tuition in swordsmanship is sought if one wishes to take this seriously, there are many martial arts that train in weapons use, but any martial art is actively encouraged as a part of your Jediism.

There is a simple method to building safe sabres, that even the youngest of children can learn with and no one will come to any harm whilst reaming fun and still learn a lot fro the experience.

Material needed:

1. 4 ft PVC pipe 1/2 inch

2. 5 ft of foam pipe inculcation for 1/2 inch pipe

3. Duct tape Black or Gray

4. any one of these color tapes Red, Blue, or Green



First cover the PVC pipe with the foam, cut off the extra foam. Next use the duct tape and tape the foam in a spiral not to tight but firm all the way up. Cut the extra foam in two and cover the ends of the pipe and tape over them. Now it should all be covered Measure off 3' feet and tape with coloured tape this will be the sabre or blade.

Again do not tape tight. The last 12\" inches will be your handle design or duct tape this again as you wish. There you have it one light sabre ready for a duel now all you need is a training partner.


Rules for dueling:

1. Hit to the head or body is a full kill.

2. Hit to arms or legs is a half kill

3. To win you must have a full kill

This is real simple but lots of fun and you will learn allot about yourself and your ability. Remember train hard or don't train.

Hopefully after reading this you have a better understanding of what lightsabres mean to some Jediist, and whilst they may seem a bit 'Geeky' to some theyhave the same implications as any other religious piece (Crucifx, Rosary etc etc) so with this in mind, please do not be too quick to judge or mock those who choose to make a sabre part of their individual Jediism. At the end of the day, they are quite fascinating concepts, sometimes works of art in their own right and a source of pleasure and fun. Whatever your choice, please take care.

Not to sound to confused but this thread a suppose makes sense as a Jedi thread but as a church are Lightsabers actually use. If so would that not cross the Church into the Roleplaying realm which the Front Page clearly states we are not? Again I am still new and learning so just curious.

First, one of your future lessons will ask you to look at swords. I understand your confusion, but, it is ceremonial. :lol:

We, the members of TOTJO, believe in the force, as a real thing. But, the fun loving sides of us (most, I will not say all) see that keeping our beliefs light, being able to laugh at ourselves is paramount.:silly:

It is a fun bit of trivia, paying homage to the movies that we adopted our NAME from....

There are lots of martial artists here. I look at Jedi as \"fighting monk\" types.... Lots of religions tell you that the body is a temple, but, YIKES, those are some shabby temples (mine ain't the best, but I'm trying). Taht means keeping it in shape. Quite a few of us use our martial arts for that reason. (Among other reasons) Some are trained in weapons. I am not. I would like to be, just have not taken the time as of yet....

I will have a saber myself someday....
