It's OK to understand them. There's http://templeofthesithorder.com/ if you want to know what it's about.

You might argue that you SHOULD know what they are, so that you can get a full grasp on how you wish to study

I personally am indifferent and have not studied Sithism at all, but it is nice to know another perspective :)

Might be something I read into if and when I get the time

I would reccomend to anyone interested in the Sith, and their philosophies read the Grand Book of the Sith. Read it, but take the majority of the material with a grain of salt.

I would recommend anyone wanting to understand the Sith path to read "The Great Jedi Holocron" by Adam Yaw and/or the Force Academy Wiki.

both books are worth the read...and as stated with the grand book of the sith...you've got to sort through the material to find the heart of the truth. the great jedi holocron does a good job of sorting the material for you, but it doesn't have some of the info that's in the grand book of the sith...if you read both though, and visit that site you'll have a really good understanding of sith philosophy....

of course this is a jedi site, however knowing only one side of the mountain leaves you vulnerable to attack from the other side...

for perspective, luke learned both sides to become complete..

I'm not so sure how serious the Temple of the Sith is. I've looked at their sermons. They seem like me to be violent anarchists and I'm not so sure how strongly their beliefs are held. They're really fun to watch though, very cinematic. I am not sure whether or not they represent Sithism as most would see it.
