On behalf of the Council this is an announcement of an amended IP Lesson.
In response to member suggestion and discussion, the Council have had a look and changed the IP lesson on "Personal Tools" to this:
New wrote: For this lesson, please complete the exercises below and give a bibliography of any sources that you used in your research.
For each exercise include a detailed example from your own life of how, on reflection, a failure to use one of these terms could have been prevented and the situation improved by making better use of each term.
Exercise 1: What is the difference between 'listening' and 'hearing'? Why is it important? How might 'interpretation' be affected?
Exercise 2: 'Semantics' is the branch of linguistics and logic concerned with meaning. Why is this important to a Jedi?
Exercise 3: A "code of behavior that delineates expectations for social behavior according to contemporary conventional norms within a society, social class, or group" is called 'etiquette'. How is this important to a Jedi?
Exercise 4: What are the differences between 'didactics', 'dialectics' and the 'Socratic method'? Why is it important to explore a range of different teaching styles?

This change is effective immediately...
If your journal has not been checked, it will be looked for, and verified for it (your IP lessons) to be complete...
Anyone with a completed IP journal is advised to familiarize yourself with these changes, as to be familiar with the IP material...
One way to do that, is to complete these changes, and post them in your journal...

On behalf of the Council, this is an announcement of update to Lesson 4 of the Initiate Programme.
After extended discussion upon a motion by the EduAdmin department, the Council have voted to remove the option to read and respond to The Field by Lynne McTaggart as an alternative means of completing Lesson 4. The lesson is therefore amended to the following:
Please watch the material Mindwalk and write a few paragraphs on your understanding of the content and what the message or purpose of the material is. We strongly suggest you make notes as you go along.
Mindwalk ( video )
The film Mindwalk is based on the book The Turning Point by Fritjof Capra, which is available in text and can be done as an alternative to the film.

*Disclaimer*
People have asked whether this is the proof the Temple uses when it claims a belief in The Force. We do not take this material as literal fact but as a potential explanation for the existence of something that connects and binds the universe.
For comparison, here is the original Lesson 4:
To complete this lesson ('Connections') you can do either the part entitled 'Mindwalk' or the part entitled 'The Field'. You may do both parts if you wish but only completing one part is required for completing the lesson.

Please note that this change is effective immediately. If your journal has not yet been checked, your IP will not be complete if you chose to respond only to The Field in Lesson 4.
Anyone with a completed IP journal is advised to familiarize yourself with these changes, so as to be up to speed with the most current IP material. If you wrote about The Field back in your own IP days, please consider adding a supplementary essay on Mindwalk (or The Turning Point) to your own journal. Some of us may have to blow some dust off before opening . . .
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions regarding this update.
Respectfully submitted,
Rev. Richard (Atticus) Laws
Council Secretary
