I am grateful for not going out to a party last night even though I wanted too. The morning after thanks me!

Grateful for smiling people

Grateful for the caring and supporting words that can be found all across the temple.

I am grateful for a job where I can commandeer the table in my boss' office for my own work and he doesn't bat an eyelid, other than to make a joke about me using up the space in his new office.

I am also grateful for more lovely flowers from my neighbour's garden

Grateful for those people who get me, even on the days I need to stand and defend the unpopular opinion or when my words need to come out a little sharper. I am still working on myself and still believe that softness is the best answer to every problem, even if I have trouble living that ideal just yet. I appreciate those people who understand that none of us are finished versions of ourselves.

Starting my 6th month of being depression free after 20 years of chemicals, therapy, hospitalization, isolation, and pain that I only survived because I wouldn't abandon my daughter. There is no cancer that lets you live that long except this one.

My psychiatrist broke up with me the other day for not coming to see him anymore. It was literally the best feeling.

I am grateful for the rain that started as I walked to my car for lunch. I needed that badly.

Remember when Trent Reznor was "26 years, on my way to hell"? I was 22 the first time I heard him say that and it was like listening to a guru dispense 4 extra years wisdom I hadn't acquired yet. The song had extra meaning to me when I was 26. Now I'm 13 years older than the line.

Grateful for music's ability to freeze a time and place, to give us the ability to look back and say "yes, but look what else could happen".
