Grateful I was grown up about something hard to deny myself.

I like hanging out with friends, but I am grateful that I can come home to a comfortable room and sit by myself (pets optional). I wish being an introvert was more socially acceptable.

It's important to stop and recognise the things we oh-so-often take for granted. Awareness is something that is cultivated, not activated.
I am grateful to be alive. I am grateful that there are humans alive today that go through rigorous schooling to be able to save lives. I am grateful for my home, for the fact that I have shelter, food, and warmth. I am grateful that I am not breathing toxic air, that the water I drink is safe (usually), that I do not have to worry about whether or not there are emergency workers to respond to unforeseen disasters or accidents. I am grateful for the people who work hard to keep all of this working correctly. I am grateful that I live in an era and place where people can freely communicate ideas, beliefs, and thoughts.

Grateful I found out it's cheaper for two of us to fly to Oslo, and then NYC, than it is for one of us to fly direct to NYC :S

I am grateful to feel that every new day is a new opportunity... the slate is wiped clean and anything can happen. The world is filled with wonder, and if I am able to let go of all the worries weighing me down, I can enjoy it all.

I'm grateful that even though my supervisor is crazy busy, running from meeting to meeting and teaching a ton this semester, that she always makes time for me and asks detailed questions about how my classes are doing, and how everything else is going. It would be easy to brush me off since I haven't started much of my research yet, but she is truly interested in how my life is going.

For professors who are understanding and willing to work with me on attendance for the rest of the semester following my dad's spinal surgery.
