Nakis! You should do a tutorial on foam weapon creation as well! I'm sure many people would enjoy that.

I can certainly do so. I know there's also a lot of tutorials out there for making el cheapo lightsaber hilts and the like, that might be a good way for those without the money for those fancy dancy hilts to be able to get something to practice with.

That is a good idea. I can try to do a $20 lightsaber hilt video or something to that regard. Maybe an option for mounting dowel for a cheap blade for practice.

I use a lot of pvc in form training, as long as there's no contact it holds up well. But I might be biased.

I've gotten some interest in a Lightsaber Guild I'm starting up in the town im moving to. Hoping that with a group I could help make some instructional videos on Soresu (being a defensive form, you sorta need an attacker to really do anything lol).
Hopefully something comes from it, and I can make some fun content for this exciting venture.

I can respect that. Either way could be wrapped in a layer of foam also.steamboat28 wrote: I use a lot of pvc in form training, as long as there's no contact it holds up well. But I might be biased.

PVC is poorly suited for actual combat simulation. Unfortunately the stresses and impacts cause it to shatter quickly. We usually use fiberglass rods and the like. I have a chart somewhere that actually gives lengths and materials for each thing so it's easier.
Trust, I've had plenty of PVC break on my back. Ya'll don't want that.

PVC is terrible for contact. That's why I don't use it for contact, but for spatial awareness when learning forms. You get the length of the weapon without the prohibitive weight, and it lets you focus on where everything is during the set.

But, something we have been playing around with internally is using a hollow PVC shaped pommel and a slid in foam blade that secures to the pommel. So you get the best of both worlds.
