Nice! I've dabbled with the local Amtgard group. It wasn't bad...just very serious. Haha. I'm glad to see so much interest.

Dagorhir is my preference for the ability to grapple, requiring stronger strikes, and having more of a vicious element to it. It allows me to dictate better to my enemies, that if they are more skilled that I can grapple them if I am stronger, that if they are faster it is easier for me to remove their speed. I like the ability to fight, fight, fight, then die and come right back, relying on skill and luck as opposed to special abilities. Amtgard is where I go if I want more technical training, but I dislike being forced to use weapons only. In combat, the body is a weapon as well and it is foolish not to know how to use it.

Absolutely! I use me feet or hands often in my amateur duels with friends. Of course I can't go full force with my friends.

The way I teach is very simple. I will show you how to block, and then if you fail to block I continue hitting you until you block. This is how I make my friends combat ready.

This is also effective for correcting stance posture in combat. When you get your knees bashed often enough, you learn to move them out of the way.Nakis wrote: The way I teach is very simple.
