Your sleeping schedule is quite messed up, @Silas
I'm in Moscow, Russia, slept all night and now it's 11 am.
Don't sacrifice your sleep for internet!

Way to go Den,
I get that this thread was a way to commit yourself to stopping smoking and support that. If anyone wants to feel offended by your self-motivation, they can go post on the rants thread. This isn't saying you aren't a Jedi.
I got over smoking and drinking (clean 3 months), and really have seen enormous improvements in multiple areas of my life. Dependency on anything: smoking, drinking, sex, narcotics, gambling, and food all have been proven to alter the neural plasticity of your brain. So any Jedi really ought to see the positive here, and try to eliminate addictions in their life.

Yep, mr. president.
Physical desire to smoke is almost over. And psychological was over when I've found my core motivation.

Nice to see you're doing so well! I'm trying to quit too, but I'm on the longer method of reducing my cigarette intake over time. I seem to be stalled at 8 cigarettes a day so I'm considering switching to the cold-turkey method as you did.
Good luck!

I wouldn't say that it was awfully hard. I thought, after 13 years of smoking, it'd be much fiercer battle - even in the first 7 days.
I still think that the secret is in centered motivation, in using deepest principles, the core of your spirit to counteract old habit. Yet, it was a moment of insight when I really felt how my principles are inconsistent with smoking - and also at that moment I really already had some accumulated weight of problems with health.
