you've never seen hammerfists used before?...it's one of several i make certain to keep trained up on...a properly done hammerfist can shatter block, and in ninjutsu a hammerfist to a certain point on the body can kill....a spinning backfist is good to have available as well though not as powerful as a hammerfist and it requires proper timing to set up and use...

shots to the back of the head have to hit the right spot to be effective...it's kind of like a button...

lol...yeah but if you don't get the button you risk really angering the person....i've had a couple of people try on me and miss...the headache you get once the adrenaline wears off sucks....recently i had a subwoofer box fall on me and almost hit the button with the corner of the box....busted the box pretty good and ticked me off reaaaally good almost threw the box through the window

hammer fists can be used on the sternum as well...and the solar plexus, base of the throat, groin, lower ribs...nearly anywhere if you can get yourself in position...but certain targets provide higher effectiveness than others

just from what i know of anatomy and from kind of playing around with it on the back of my own head i would guess "the button" is at or just above where the spine meets the skull aka base of the skull

which is where teacher and instructors usually (that ive seen at least) tell people to hit

yay learning!

--edit

also those might be good targets for you with a hammer fist but im 160-165 lbs

i can break a clavicle

i cant break a big guys sternum lol

good input tho
