i want to emphasize that the middle finger knuckle is always the striking knuckle
you can get away with sloppiness if youre wearing gloves but hitting with the ring finger or pinkie finger knuckles will very often result in a "boxers fracture" if you land a serious shot on a hard surface (like their face)

the bolo punch as i first learned of it is a type of shovel hook which you can see well around the 50 sec mark of this vid and is called "bolo" because the arm morion resembles that used to cut sugar cane with a bolo knife in the phillippines

that feeling of "slinging" a weapon is part of training the bolo punch for a lot of people
