I just started working with the Cthulhu/Lovecraftian mythos again and was wondering if anyone has had experiences with any of the various magical systems that focus on the mythos?
My main interests are dreamwork and shape-shifting methods in the context of the mythos, with an emphasis on symbolism and personal transformation through exploration of the darker corners of the mind.
I am currently taking two online courses related to the application of the mythos within magical paradigms, so it would be fun to talk with anyone who's interested in these ideas (please feel free to PM me).
Yes, I realize this is fiction and I'm not in search of the true Necronomicon, nor am I being driven to madness by the Outer Gods.

I have some past experience in the context of the 50 names.
The other names of the book are more risky.
Is not all fiction, because magic can create own realities...
The point is that are ways to give energy (life) to some entity.
When this work is making ,the fiction is not more fiction
(in the concept that we know)
Need to be careful in invocations
(who is?
who or what represent? (fiction or not fiction)
The pantheon of this book have points of conection with reality.
This gods now enjoy some way of reality(astral or other) because
perhaps, was invoked and have, in magic rules,a life.
Are fed.
In magic, astral vision is one way of imagination and
work serious with the creations.
Imagination is a word that can produce confusion because
was used in popular lenguaje.
The operant in magic contemplates imagination as very
acceptable method.
Many systems (example Enoquian lenguaje)
is based in creations or personal interpretations of translations of
personal experiences with angels that someone contacted...
Some times a wise writer can create a system very real, based in
ideas "no so fantastic"
Lovecraft is very respectable in many magic and intelectuals circles.
Magic systems have methods to create Homunculus,Tulpa,
Incubus and succubus with imagination or/and the mind
MTFBWY

Thanks, crystale. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts.
For the most part, I'm with you on what you've said. I'm an Enochian practitioner (John Dee's early system rather than the Golden Dawn version), so I'm familiar with those lines where fiction and reality blur or fiction becomes reality for the practitioner.
I'm probably coming at things from a slightly different angle - viewing magic(k) more as a psychological tool for personal exploration and development than a supernatural lightning rod. That's the approach the teachers of the courses I mentioned have taken as well.
Great talking with you. Sounds like you're very knowledgeable and have a good amount of experience with magic and the occult.

Anyone sincerely interested in material similar to the presence of the Necrononicon should check out Michael W. Ford's "Book of the Witch Moon" and "Necrominion." As with all of Ford's works, they are centered and driven by results acquired through a proper application of Night side sorcery...

Awesome. I have read (most of) Book of the Witch Moon, but wasn't aware that Necrominon existed until you mentioned it. I'll check it out. Thanks, Zenchi.
I will admit that I'm taking a somewhat different approach to the mythos than I have in the past. I'm not treating it with any less respect, but I am attempting to separate it a little bit from traditional (and chaos) sorcery and ceremonial magic. I haven't fully worked out where I'm ultimately headed with this idea, but things seem to be gradually unfolding in front of me nonetheless.

Careful opening doors (gates) Cade, not all of them close as we would like them to, real or imagined...

Light in extension
Regards,Arcade
Magick is a psychological tool very acceptable
to enhance the will in the consecration for the
great work.
I hope your work, and the great work, be blessed
Light, and deep peace

Some of these doors/gates of which you speak were flung open many years ago.
At first I tried to seal them back up, losing pieces of myself throughout that unsuccessful process... then I discovered ways to make those abysmal fissures work for me, rather than against me. A big part of that was learning to respect the darkness (instead of being frightened by it) and acknowledging my connection to it.
I certainly have my lines, though, and know where I stop and darker things begin.

Maybe you know about the two pillars,or middle pillar...basically is not so far of
concept of yin yang...maybe when we feel in darkness, is not good idea the
intense work of mind.
When we want to stop a negative relationship for us,as example, just "not call".
Sometimes ,persistence in ideas act as call.
( just not call )
Rest and calm we all need, good idea is...
Deep Peace...

Just out of curiosity, what does the Middle pillar have anything to do with Yin and or Yang?
