Some of us actually know some of these people. And governments are as cosmetic as the personalities that make them up. Lots of stories, lots of speeches, smiles and handshakes (and the photographer being a cousin helps), one knows who to talk to in what company and at what moment ... then it's off to the next place one needs to be seen talking to whoever.
Then all the people change. Some faces get older ; others disappear. Progressives look toward a hope-ful future at the expense of the [strike]taxpayer[/strike] present whereas conservatives clutch onto the privileges of the past at the expense of the [strike]underprivileged[/strike] present. Of course, what's really going on never seems to come up as one of the "right" things to talk about in well-chosen public ...
Recognising this - especially while standing in the middle of the political cesperalle - does not take away from one's spiritual and philosophic enlightenment. In fact, it confirms it ...

Long story short, politics are an unsavory fact of civilization and the only way to overcome them is to eliminate the desire for personal gain.
Rather than hang on to an outdated meme I choose to look past it and progress my experience beyond the mundane.
Jediism, to me, is the evolution of the spiritual self beyond the social standard. I do not practice politics nor do I engage in social niceties for personal gain. My efforts are bent towards serving others and the unity in existence of our lives within the universe.

The Sith may be "bad", but they stand for a freedom in which a person is upwardly mobile, can keep what they take, and carve out their own niche in the galaxy.
It isn't often seen from that perspective, but I think it's important for both sides of this discussion to stop and look at it that way once in a while.

Agreed...

Wescli Wardest wrote: Politics are everywhere. The government, the office, the market and in your home politics are practiced by all peoples. And it is always for the same reasons… to affect the outcome one desires. Politicians want money and to get re-elected. Your neighbors want to sustain a pleasant home life and maintain market value of their homes. The markets want to attract customers, get them to spend money and raise profits.
