This saying accuses the offender of doubting the intelligence of the victim (who said this phrase).
I think it sounds childish and has been overused so often in my childhood that it means nothing to me when someone says this.
"If you tell me who you like, I'll be your best friend"
Somehow, I got the feeling that none of the people saying this to me would ever be a "best friend" to me, even if I spilled the beans. To think that you can trade one secret for a caring and close friendship is absurd. It's just as bad as thinking you can "buy" friends.

Banana.
Banana who?
Banana I see you!

Who's there??
Banana.
Banana WHO??
Banana I've come for you!!!
