No, why would that be surprising? I know full well that deep philosophy became increasingly divorced from anything we could possibly need in every day life. I also realize that this is exactly the point the comic was making. I was wondering why nobody else noticed. Or maybe they did but felt like that was a good thing for the world or for philosophy. I beg to differ...

I agree with Gisteron about what the comic seems to portray... though through that view, it might be a little extreme and absolute. I don't know a lot of philosophy, but I can easily say, I have learned an incredible amount from it as far as understanding why various things happen among myself the way they do, and how I can deal with it. I don't know if I could learn those same things from anything else.

I honestly just find this funny because I work in a call center and wish 1)I could talk to someone like that 2) someone would stay on the line long enough to let all that happen 3) The customer responded like no other customer would have 4) I wish we had different departments when the customer gets too difficult.

It is good to wonder but to question anyone elses wonder .... we all see things differently. I like that.
