With winter finally here, and many of us probably not getting outside as much as we'd like, the blues start to set in. I wonder, how many of you have heard of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)? Cute acronym, bla feelings. :(

SAD is a type of depression that can hit many of us during the darker and colder months (though a few can get it in the summer). Not getting enough sunlight, not getting enough exercise, and being stuck inside all day can all wear on you. Cabin fever sets in and we go crazy, get tired, or apathetic. Here are some ways to combat those grumpy moods that come with this lovely season.

Get outside and catch the sun (Tanning and sun lamps also work)

Exercise - boost those endorphins!

Ionized Air

And of course, a healthy diet

Medication and therapy have also been shown to be helpful.

Now not everybody has or will get SAD, but I bet everyone can benefit from a little sun, a little walking, some fresh air, and some fresh food. Hopefully we'll all have a wonderful winter (or summer depending upon your location). :)

If anybody has some other mood boosting ideas (like maybe St. Johns Wort) I would love, Love, LOVE to hear them. (Then maybe my family members could get a little cheerier. lol)

I've found taking a vit D supliment helps a lot if you don't get enough sunshine in the winter.

Oily fish is a good diet source of D as well.

This winter feels just like last summer. Floods, and I expect the government to tell me we're in a drought anytime now...

Actually, we desert dwellers come out in the winter; it's in the summer they we stay in doors more often, haha.

I think we hit about 70 degrees on Christmas day. Jacket weather.
