Sith and True Power?

Sith and True Power? was created by
I have been reading into the "Sith" philosophy trying to understand their view on things to see how they differ from my own.
I keep coming across the term Power. They talk of gaining true power and that it leads to victory etc.
Can someone help me understand? What is true power to a sith? What does a sith believe power is?

THis is a jedi site... How the Sith see things would be guesses, or very limited from the few Sith who are here....
It would be like me saying "Tess likes it when dolphins smack their faces on the water"...
If I was to just make an assumption on you, based on what I know, such as your profile picture...
Who can say why another does what they do? Except that person, of course...

It is doubtful that what you are reading was written by a true Sith.
When one focuses on 'power' in this way, it is generally seen as ego-driven, control-driven and activity-driven will. This may appear to be 'power', yet whatever that power - the ability to "do" -, is applied to could not be very lasting. Here is a simple model : take the t'ai chi (the symbol for yin-yang) and chop off the black half. One no longer has a symbol for anything ; one has a dead fish.
No true Sith would make this error. True Sith know that there is an equilibrium to 'power'.
Just be very careful what you study ...

Or at least ask the people who wrote it.
Thats just common decency,and respect.
Alexandre, nothing is lasting, and so what?
Am I dead fish because one day I will be more or less fertilizer for insects?
We "true" Sith make plenty of errors.
I would even doubt our teachings and "philosophy" is error free.
Could anyone else say different?
If your looking for error free, then dont come to a Sith site.
Of course, an error in Jedi philosophy is not the same across the board for a Sith.
Also, the yin-yang symbol is a poor model to use, as we dont actually use such symbolism or models.
That whole thing is a dead fish to me.

So, as far as 'errors' go -- there could have been one of mine.
It has been 19 years since I've had to deal with a Sith on a daily basis ...
... I may be a little rusty.

+1000 for placing the real life and real life future importance of real life over the real life importance of afterlives.Khaos wrote: Alexandre, nothing is lasting, and so what?

Sith or Jedi, power is much the same. I've said this before but...
True power is what you experience when you give yourself over wholly to the Force, surrendering to it. Whether that surrender leads to Sith or Jedi behavior depends on what is in your heart.

Khaos, you almost make me wish I was Sith sometimes to be quite honest.
Alexandre, I thought the overall message of your post was a wonderful one! We most certainly should be careful what we study and we should be careful how we look at symbols and "power."

symbols, like words, only have as much meaning/power as the perceiver gives them...
power is different to each person, for me it's a bit complex/difficult to describe as it can be something that has some sort of hold over one,it can be physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, etc...
but yes everyone should always be aware/careful of what they study...if you study something you're not ready for the results can be terrible...likewise a mentor/teacher should be careful of what they teach...if they teach someone something they're not ready for...same bad end...in the natural flow of things, we learn what we need when we need it and are ready for it...

Warning: Spoiler!
There is passion, yet there is peace
Through passion I gain strength and knowledge
Through strength and knowledge I gain victory
Through victory I gain peace and harmony
Through peace and harmony my chains are broken
There is no death, there is the force and it shall free me
