Native American Religions was created by
Just wondering if anyone has studied various Native American Religions. It's something I'm interested in, but I'm not sure which books are good and which are just hooey.

I haven't personally, but a very dear friend of mine is on that spiritual path. If you'd like, I'll get in touch with him and see what he recommends.

Books are nice and all, but if you get the chance talk to a Native American.

I have found that many of their beliefs and stories to be very wonderful. ;)

The Jedi Master in charge of the Chicago Jedi is a Shaman! He might know. Check out the name: Gabriel Calderon.

Thanks Wescli, I'd love to do that, but not sure how to find them in the middle of Columbus Ohio. I do have some half siblings, but they don't talk a lot to me since I'm not part of the tribe. It's an interest of mine because I've heard my whole life I look Native, but I haven't been able to ever verify if I am or not. I'm thinking about doing one of those DNA tests to find out.

Aren't the Crow native to that area?

I have discovered the power of Google over the last few years. May not always have the best answer, but it can get you started on the right path. ;)

Hey, I agree the best method is through a real person and went through a pipe ceremony this last winter! What is your interest in Native American practices? Spirituality? The philosophy? experience?

I am reading Shamanism: as a spiritual practice for daily life by, Tom Cowan, and it is a great way to learn some basic shamanistic practices, though it is based on more of a world view of shamanism.

Also there is the Native American Church which has both great philosophy and offers traditional (psychedelic or not) experiences). Including Sundance and peyote ceremonies.

and for a bit of hooey and beauty ;) carlos castenada is great!
