i just found out yesterday that leonard cohen died!

this is my tribute

here is a really cool interview also where he talks about becoming a zen monk and losing all his money in a pretty delightful way, if youre not familiar with cohen then please give the interview a few minutes, its totally worth it

probably his most famous song is Hallelujah : its very beautiful and captures much of the essence of love and heartbreak



that song was used in the original Shrek, no doubt one of the (many) details of that movie which made it such a success

several other of his songs have been used in other films.
in fact, the first cohen song i ever heard was everybody knows in the 1990 christian slater movie "pump up the volume"

the song pretty jaded and cynical, and it definitely set the tone for the ant-establishment theme of the movie



you might recognize the next one from the film "natural born killers"
probably one of his darkest songs ever, the future , actually made me angry lol



also used in that movie and a bit more more enigmatic was waiting for the miracle to come



i often am critical of official music videos, because i believe that the people who write songs and who can sing and play good songs, arent necessarily the best people to be put on film trying to convey the essence of the song through body language and facial expression, in addition to their tone and pitch ect
often i think it becomes vain and pretentious, which gets the hell on my nerves lol
BUT
dance me to the end of love is one of cohens most sentimental songs, and the video captures the theme of enduring love in quite a touching way, i think

im expressing my thanks to the Force for the artistry of leonard cohen, and my thanks that such things can be and exist at all
and also, thank you to everyone who reads this and who also enjoys these great songs

Brings back memories of when I was teaching myself to code and my focus didn't require caffeine, but the constant beat and melodies blasting into my eardrums. Definitely the first period of time that I truly took pause to reflect on what exactly the Force really was. The energy I got (sometimes still get) from just listening to this and others like it felt amazing; like a surge of pure, unadulterated love and cosmic energy. The feeling is certainly beyond these descriptors, but it's kinda close.
