Here is the log
(13:00:28) Rosalyn_J: hello there
(13:00:54) Lizzy: Hello, I'm glad I could make it today
(13:01:00) Rosalyn_J: me too
(13:02:12) Lizzy: Thank you for putting this together, I've been interested in learning more about this for awhile now
(13:02:51) Rosalyn_J: Great
(13:02:59) Rosalyn_J: Any questions?
(13:03:07) Temple remote: Carlos.Martinez3 logs into the Chat.
(13:03:11) Temple remote: Twigga logs into the Chat.
(13:03:15) Lizzy: Not any specific ones that I can think of
(13:03:18) Temple remote: Aqua logs into the Chat.
(13:03:22) Carlos.Martinez3: hey all!
(13:03:30) Aqua: Good evening.
(13:03:37) Carlos.Martinez3: hi aqua!
(13:03:59) Twigga: I'm kinda here, kinda not - I e-mailed a whole bunch of Q's, but travel means my connection's dodgy.
(13:04:01) Rosalyn_J: ok
(13:04:18) Rosalyn_J: well we are glad to have you
(13:04:22) Carlos.Martinez3: pastor did you get those questions?
(13:04:24) Rosalyn_J: I got your PM
(13:04:28) Rosalyn_J: I did
(13:04:38) Carlos.Martinez3: groovy
(13:05:12) Carlos.Martinez3: I got avocado chili poeder and coffee for this hour ! ready and willing
(13:05:12) Rosalyn_J: I have been really busy today
(13:05:20) Carlos.Martinez3: chilli powder
(13:05:23) Rosalyn_J: dont think I have had a moments rest
(13:05:51) Aqua: Having enough rest is important.
(13:05:56) Rosalyn_J: Now, I will say, the answers I give to these questions are my answers
(13:06:11) Lizzy: Of course, that makes sense
(13:06:39) Rosalyn_J: As it is, the Clergy is not as cut and dry as something like Knighthood
(13:07:02) Rosalyn_J: and with each new pastor, there will be a new mission and iteration
(13:07:02) Carlos.Martinez3: same for every person ,they will be answers from their own study and their own ministrys results
(13:07:39) Rosalyn_J: We can start with Twiggas questions if anyone doesnt have any others
(13:08:04) Lizzy: That sounds like it would be great
(13:08:16) Rosalyn_J: ok here is question 1:
(13:08:22) Rosalyn_J: On a scale of JarJar to Yoda, how much fun is Seminary, and serving on the clergy team?
(13:08:46) Rosalyn_J: When I was going through Seminary, it was Degobah
(13:09:01) Rosalyn_J: I think my Maitre was on Tatooine
(13:09:32) Rosalyn_J: There used to be these boring chatechisms(?)
(13:09:39) Rosalyn_J: it was wild
(13:10:32) Rosalyn_J: Anyway when Maitre and his Synod took over, Seminary became much more philosophical because, well he is a philosopher
(13:11:10) Rosalyn_J: The team who is working on Seminary now is making a more practical and tool based seminary, though we are working to maintain all of the previous lessons
(13:12:08) Rosalyn_J: In terms of serving as part of the Clergy, well its as boring or as fun as you make it, as stressful or as easy going as you make it
(13:12:37) Lizzy: What do members of the Clergy usually do?
(13:12:52) Rosalyn_J: Currently we have two teams (Outreach and Seminary) and we are lookig to add more as the needs of the members become more apparent
(13:12:53) Carlos.Martinez3: my seminary I did during managinf two Mexican resturaunts so when I got to read was sit down breakfast time and when I got to post was sit down dinner night leftovers time so I say mine was very camino asking for the clone army for me very much a sit and think about what I was fixing to write while counting numbers and adding tickets to a point of sales sytem and eating all at the same time - so ide say on the scale given a obie on camino
(13:13:26) Temple remote: steamboat28 logs into the Chat.
(13:13:32) Twigga: Aqua is here! I'd like to hear from him about legals in europe, particularly in dutch, but maybe it's so dull it should go to PM as a Q
(13:13:48) Carlos.Martinez3: me too twigga
(13:13:49) Rosalyn_J: ah lets see
(13:13:58) Rosalyn_J: to answer your question Lizzy
(13:14:15) Rosalyn_J: overall the mission of the clergy here is to meet the spiritual needs of the members here
(13:14:33) Lizzy: Oh, okay, I guess that makes sense
(13:14:45) Carlos.Martinez3: each clergy member can have their own ministry as well
(13:14:55) Rosalyn_J: its broad enough that it makes room for the personal ministry and personal "way" of ministry of each person
(13:15:05) Carlos.Martinez3: true
(13:15:09) Rosalyn_J: hello Steamboat
(13:15:53) Carlos.Martinez3: clergy can be build by the idividuals ministry and theor own convictions kina cool if you ask me
(13:16:04) Rosalyn_J: As it were, the manner in which we do this as a "body of the clergy" is still being formed
(13:16:24) Rosalyn_J: we are finding new ways and more effective ways to do this as needs become apparent
(13:17:07) Rosalyn_J: I feel I might have missed a question
(13:17:11) Rosalyn_J: Aqua?
(13:17:22) Aqua: During one of my Seminary lessons I had to talk to a minister of a foreign religion, that whas quite scary but also one of the richest experiences I have of my seminary. Ehm.. I have done quite some research on the topic. In the jurisprudence fundament religion in the Netherlands may only be practices by people who have done any form of study, with entry requirements related to their religion. The organisation who watches religion is the ANBI, Algemeen Nuts Beogende Instelling. I am still figuring out a good letter to write to them.. as well with some other thingies. 8o The big part in the Netherlands comes forth out of the Cicular society. There are no binding elements to say what is religion or not. Even the 'tuchtrecht'
(13:18:50) Aqua: An organ who looks if organisations do their job right, exist for all four classical jobs with certain sectret laws surrounding it. (Notary, Lawyer, and Medic) But the priest, who is also part of that job group, has no seperate organisation to check him.
(13:20:04) Aqua: Almost all laws are based on jurisprudence. So far I have discovered a few, but I would love to send my seminary work on the subject trough PM, if you if you like a more detailed examination.
(13:20:08) Aqua: ***
(13:20:39) steamboat28: Cool.
(13:20:49) Carlos.Martinez3: wow aqua its no where near that extensive where I am located at. gotta give you props bro!thats way difrent than my experience
(13:21:11) Temple remote: Ke_JinnDakken logs into the Chat.
(13:21:53) Lizzy: I have another question, why did you decided to join the Clergy?
(13:22:25) Aqua: https://www.templeofthejediorder.org/forum/93-Journals/113785-aqua-s-seminary-journal?start=30#252530 (quick link to my research)
(13:22:49) steamboat28: It's a calling.
(13:23:17) Carlos.Martinez3: remember you have 4 clergy mebers here lol
(13:23:19) steamboat28: I felt drawn to it, led to it.
(13:23:36) Rosalyn_J: Same here
(13:23:55) Rosalyn_J: Ive had the calling to ministry since I was 5
(13:23:57) Lizzy: So it was just something you knew you were meant to do?
(13:24:18) Rosalyn_J: doors in my particular denomination were closed to me because of gender
(13:24:45) Carlos.Martinez3: do tell pastor
(13:25:25) Rosalyn_J: Well I grew up in primarily african american churches with strong biases against female clergy
(13:26:02) Carlos.Martinez3: your biast or the denominations?
(13:26:30) Rosalyn_J: when I did find a church that "accepted" female clergy, the difference in their treatment and the feeling of having to prove themselves more was pretty apparent as the years war on
(13:26:50) Carlos.Martinez3: that's tough
(13:27:30) Rosalyn_J: when I disclosed to my former pastor and then to her deacon in training, the pastor laughed at me and the deacon scared me by questioning me relentlessly about whether I was "sure"
(13:27:38) Rosalyn_J: so I ended up leaving
(13:28:25) Rosalyn_J: As it concerns my training here, I trained under both Mark Anjuu and Alexandre Orion
(13:28:43) Carlos.Martinez3: the longest war as the sex war is called male vs female is even presnt in religion... tough stuff, we loose lots of great hearts from that simple...hurdle
(13:28:52) Rosalyn_J: so the partnership between myself and clergy was quiet natural
(13:29:56) Carlos.Martinez3: i say I'm 100 percent jedi so for me there is no ---calling , its just part of my practice
(13:30:18) Lizzy: Thank you all very much for your answers, I'm actually going to have to head out. Goodbye everyone.
(13:30:27) Rosalyn_J: bye Lizzy
(13:30:28) Temple remote: Lizzy logs out of the Chat.
(13:30:29) Carlos.Martinez3: be well!
(13:30:33) Rosalyn_J: thanks for commming
(13:30:35) Aqua: May the Force shine with you!
(13:30:40) Carlos.Martinez3: lol
(13:30:57) Rosalyn_J: I have more questions from Twigga
(13:30:58) Carlos.Martinez3: hey snips say you come in!
(13:30:59) steamboat28: Interesting answer, Carlos.
(13:31:04) Carlos.Martinez3: u still here
(13:31:37) Carlos.Martinez3: i see it if i believe and stand in what i believe i feed people or serve them or even fogive them ...without a calling
(13:32:24) Carlos.Martinez3: my stance is a bit difrent from the common religious stance but the actions are the same if not ...more
(13:33:23) Carlos.Martinez3: how did your seminary time go on a scale of jar jar to yoda steam?
(13:34:49) Carlos.Martinez3: SNIPS you here ?
(13:35:22) steamboat28: Pardon, Carlos?
(13:35:43) Carlos.Martinez3: SNIPS is a name i gave Ke JinDakeken
(13:36:08) Carlos.Martinez3: shes one of my students , ever seen clone wars the cartoon movie thing?
(13:36:34) Rosalyn_J: you Anakin then?
(13:36:40) Carlos.Martinez3: anikins given a student by yoda and he nicknames her snips
(13:36:58) Twigga: Thanks Aqua - would be a good PM session. Q that may/may not be in pile i sent ros: How've your listening skills developed? How do you handle the secrecy thing.
(13:37:01) Carlos.Martinez3: i feel a lot of similarities to the main character of the saga lol
(13:37:35) Rosalyn_J: Listening is an ever developing skill for me
(13:37:51) Rosalyn_J: the more I have to listen the more I have to listen
(13:37:59) Rosalyn_J: (that may not make sense)
(13:38:04) Temple remote: Aqua is now known as (Aqua_AFK).
(13:38:12) Carlos.Martinez3: i see you !
(13:38:44) Rosalyn_J: I find myself constantly going back to narratives of myself and of others
(13:39:04) Rosalyn_J: because those can be the biggest hurdles in effective listening
(13:39:16) Carlos.Martinez3: i have to stop thinking and pasue to listen... myself, ive figured out my own engine and how to adjust it ...fine tuning so to speak
(13:39:21) Rosalyn_J: so I have to find ways to reform or revoke them
(13:39:39) steamboat28: Confidence isn't a difficult issue for me.
(13:40:58) Carlos.Martinez3: same here
(13:41:17) Rosalyn_J: When you say "how do we handle the secrecy thing," do you mean, what measures do we have in place?
(13:42:10) Carlos.Martinez3: the confidentiality ?
(13:42:25) Carlos.Martinez3: @twigga
(13:42:43) (Aqua_AFK): Mm.. that is a good question indeed.. Somewhat complicated, am extremely sensitive due to my past and that has a huge effect on my listening capabilities. 8o My approach to the evidentiary privilege is to serve to the best of my abilities. We have certain guidelines that we need to follow, when to report, and when to take council on what to do. My hope is place others before myself and I always aim to chat with people in question what to do if the situation allows it.
(13:42:54) Twigga: sorry - only 1/3 here -- answer both if you got the time!
(13:43:53) Rosalyn_J: Ordained individuals may hold sessions in confidence as a part of their ordination
(13:44:03) steamboat28: You just have to know the laws and keep your mouth shut
(13:44:31) Carlos.Martinez3: i can personally tell you how the outreach team does it for the temple and how i do it for sessions on my own
(13:44:56) Rosalyn_J: and we have a lesson in seminary on that particular thing. Laws and what is grounds for a mandatory report
(13:45:44) Rosalyn_J: other than mandatory reporting, nothing needs to be said outside of the conversation
(13:45:56) Rosalyn_J: between the two talking
(13:46:21) Carlos.Martinez3: right or what is agreed on my the two most of the time
(13:47:33) Carlos.Martinez3: pastor you said you had a few more questions from the pm?
(13:47:42) Rosalyn_J: I do
(13:47:44) steamboat28: Even the minister shouldn't bring it up again in another confidence session.
(13:48:07) Carlos.Martinez3: that's very true and wise steam
(13:48:15) Rosalyn_J: thats a good point
(13:49:03) Rosalyn_J: Can you talk us through the mechanisms of seminary?
What happens after seminary?
What happens after ordination?
(13:49:31) Rosalyn_J: I'm not sure what you mean by mechanics, but I can try
(13:49:43) Carlos.Martinez3: you got those pastor !
(13:49:51) Rosalyn_J: In order to join seminary one must have the rank of initiate or higher
(13:50:20) Rosalyn_J: When one is interested in joining seminary, one can PM Raxicorico who then sets up an interview
(13:50:40) Rosalyn_J: based on the interview Rax can either admit or not
(13:51:06) Rosalyn_J: in the cases of apprenticeships, Rax will also have a conversation with the persons TM
(13:51:35) Rosalyn_J: Seminary consists of lessons preset in much the same way as the IP
(13:52:05) Rosalyn_J: currently the seminary is under reconstruction, but the current seminary has about 12 lessons
(13:52:55) Rosalyn_J: Once that seminary work is completed, Rax will check the journal and Synod (the group that governs the clergy) will vote on whether to issue a license
(13:53:17) Rosalyn_J: a majority vote (4 currently) will grant a license
(13:53:39) Rosalyn_J: Ordination is granted to only Knights and above
(13:54:08) Rosalyn_J: To be ready for ordination, the current stipulation is the creation of a handbook
(13:54:20) Rosalyn_J: (again this is under review and will be changed)
(13:54:54) Rosalyn_J: The Ordination to OCP and SCP both currently come with a ceremony
(13:55:15) Rosalyn_J: I am not 100% sure if SCP will maintain its ceremony
(13:55:29) Rosalyn_J: did that help at all?
(13:56:04) Carlos.Martinez3: after ordination?
(13:57:11) Rosalyn_J: Well after ordination, the minister can hold confidence sessions
(13:58:04) Rosalyn_J: its the hope that after licensure a person will have chosen one of the two teams to serve on as part of their ministry and/or created a personal ministry
(13:58:44) Carlos.Martinez3: aka get to work lol jk jk jk!thats the time the personal ministry can be made or practiced and if needed helped define right?
(13:58:45) Rosalyn_J: comments from other clergy?
(14:00:30) (Aqua_AFK): I have no additional comments on the matter.
(14:00:39) steamboat28: There are, of course, other paths than the two teams.
(14:01:09) Carlos.Martinez3: truth , personal ministrys can start what else staem?
(14:01:16) Carlos.Martinez3: steam sorry
(14:03:42) Carlos.Martinez3: what are some of the other options?
(14:04:23) (Aqua_AFK): Twigga, I have send you the law writings trough PM.
(14:06:02) Carlos.Martinez3: can we answer on more question from the list pastor? my time will be up soon
(14:06:14) Rosalyn_J: ok
(14:06:25) Carlos.Martinez3: thank you
(14:06:38) Rosalyn_J: What are the views on Apprenticeship studies and seminary simultaneously? I understand that it's ok to do it this way, but have you become aware of any particular pros and cons?
(14:07:06) Rosalyn_J: I think this is an individual choice
(14:07:32) Rosalyn_J: I know that even though I entered seminary while an apprentice, I did not complete it until after knighthood
(14:07:49) Rosalyn_J: that is why the conversation with a person's tm is really important
(14:07:55) Carlos.Martinez3: time management is a huge beast to retain on the side of the student on this question
(14:08:31) Twigga: tyhanks aqua - and thanks for following up my Qs folks!
(14:08:57) Twigga: great having these multiple inputs
(14:09:02) (Aqua_AFK): I love to do both, it gives the option to switch when things get boring, and merge both to have an in depth touch.
(14:09:39) Carlos.Martinez3: two of my student have done it while apprentishipp and they have made quite a big step forward on their own findings , it reflects in their posts and in their apprentice journals if you ask me
(14:10:42) Rosalyn_J: Any other comments here?
(14:10:53) (Aqua_AFK): When I started my path into the clergy, near the end of my initiate period, I started doing my seminary and apprenticeship under one master and discussed merging both a bit..
(14:11:00) Carlos.Martinez3: gives a broader stance if you ask this TM as a knight when the student does both. it can be longer in time but the results are amazing!
(14:11:28) (Aqua_AFK): I really loved doing both simultaniously, and I highly recommend it if you like an alternative approach.
(14:11:59) Rosalyn_J: Ive got some more questions here
(14:12:00) Carlos.Martinez3: @agua alternative to what? smileyface
(14:12:04) (Aqua_AFK): You are welcome Twigga!
(14:12:18) (Aqua_AFK): Alternative to doing Seminary and Apprenticeship fully seperated.
(14:12:23) (Aqua_AFK): O:-D
(14:12:31) Carlos.Martinez3: halo!!
(14:12:34) Rosalyn_J: Does everyone have talents and skills to bring to a clergy role?
(14:12:45) Rosalyn_J: Yes, certainly
(14:12:53) Carlos.Martinez3: ohh one more wifes almost home!!!
(14:13:28) Carlos.Martinez3: i believe in the human potential as some call it... every insert of a heart is an addition of that much more ...heart!
(14:13:46) Rosalyn_J: Last one
(14:13:50) Carlos.Martinez3: we grow with every addition some how way shape or form
(14:13:55) Rosalyn_J: Is there a particular level of commitment which is expected from, or hoped of, from seminarians? How about from clergy? What are those expectations?
(14:14:25) Rosalyn_J: Well, here is my view
(14:14:40) Carlos.Martinez3: steam twigga aqua pastor force be with yall and thank you fpr letting me sit next to you all today!
(14:14:51) Rosalyn_J: One can make clergy an "obligation" or an "inivitation"
(14:14:58) (Aqua_AFK): May the Force shine with you brother!
(14:15:01) Carlos.Martinez3: force we serve share and seek find us !
(14:15:29) Rosalyn_J: its been my experience that the more we try to force and quanitify service, the more difficult it becomes
(14:15:56) Rosalyn_J: so yes we have teams and we have opportunities, but no "obligations" as such
(14:16:38) Rosalyn_J: oh and see ya carlos, thanks for hangin out
(14:16:50) Temple remote: steamboat28 has been logged out (Timeout).
(14:17:42) Rosalyn_J: ok well, I didnt get to all of twiggas questions, but I had only set aside an hour and to be respectful of people's time
(14:17:50) Rosalyn_J: I want to end it for today
(14:18:33) Rosalyn_J: We enjoyed answering your questions and we welcome more as they come. I'll be posting this log in the thread for this meeting

Warning: Spoiler!
(13:00:28) Rosalyn_J: hello there

(14:18:39) Rosalyn_J: thank you all for coming

I was wondering what kind of things are discussed at clergy meetings? How are decisions made? Are there "layers within layers" as with the Knighthood path, or are the clergy more open with one another?
