The bully was created by Manu
How does the student tell the difference between one who bullies and one who offers a different perspective.

Sometimes antagonism is a better service than being agreeable.

The pessimist complains about the wind;
The optimist expects it to change;
The realist adjusts the sails.

You can have a different opinion and still be respectful.

Is it the bully's perspective that makes them a bully, or your perspective conflicting with the bully's perspective, that makes them a bully? I feel as though in order to understand ones perspective you have to first shed your own completely, even if only for a moment to try and understand. Holding on to it can only generate more conflict.

Absolutely. Intention is probably 80% of what makes a bully. Unfortunately perception is usually how we are judged. Stepping out of our emotions and into those of another is a tough process sometimes, but very valuable.

If your felling bullied let some one know . I don't define how others feel, I only defend and attempt to create a non hostil community. Feel free to pm me or leave comments or questions here . This is NOT a thread for hypothetical situations but for real members on TOTJO with real concerns and real actions. I will defend not atack. If an offense is taken, the offended regardless of other people's opinions is offended. So many times the offend "E" is unaware the other is actually offended. Harassment is harassment when some one says it's harassment . That I will defend. That's the reason for this outreach , not for hypothetical but for actuals.
May the Force be with us .

Outreach to help others cope with their feelings? All for it.

I am a Jedi, an instrument of peace;

Where there is hatred I shall bring love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

Peace be with y'all as you seek the Force we share or don't share , may the Force find you where you seek it .

I don't think he is wrong so much as trying to convey a perception. Meaning one can be as polite and respectful as they can be in a reply to another but the other can still perceive that reply as being disrespectful. It's ones perception that is reality for them not the intent of the other.
