Conceal, Don't Feel

Okay, to those of us who have seen Frozen (addicts and parents, I'm sure you've seen it more than your fair share of times, yes?)

What's your thoughts on how Elsa's parents dealt with her powers?

Conceal. Don't feel. Don't let them know.

Is this a good way to go about this? Isolate someone and try to help them control powers?

What would you do differently?

My own opinion:

I think the parents did this incorrectly. Just locking her away, not finding someone to help her understand her powers and how to use them properly, it just seems wrong. And granted, we didn't get to see what their personalities were truly like, but I'd like to imagine they were pretty compassionate people. So I wonder just what they were thinking keeping her locked up. Maybe it was a matter of social acceptance?

But if *that* were the case...I mean, this seems to be at least semi-regular in this universe. The trolls ask "Born with the gifts or cursed?" So it happens enough there's two different lines/variations of this.

As soon as I saw the title of this thread I knew it was about frozen. Lol! :lol:

That seems to be a common theme with Disney movies, yes? Isolatio . Lock away people who are different from you, appearance, abilities, social status, etc. At least in (correct if I'm wrong) all the Disney movies with this theme, at the end it is overcome and focuses on that main character being reintegrated into society and accepted.

I do agree with you though, I do believe her parents did make a bad decision, instead of teaching her to fear her powers they should have taught her to use her powers. With use, comes control. Most humans are taught to fear the unknown or different, however I am one of those weird ones who is the opposite. I don't fear the unknown and different, I seek and embrace it.
