That said, I will probably also work an outer "robe" in the fashion of the Klingon Command cloak (minus the pockets), because sleeveless hooded robes look like epic drenched in win-sauce.

I always considered that the robes like the DA page you linked are "combat robes". You see similar stuff through the Clone Wars. I always loved how they gave the idea of robes without actually being robes
And I've always LOVED the Klingon outfits I bet they're all easy to make too.
