I recently saw on the NASA website were you can submit your name to be put on the ORION space shuttle set to launch for a Test flight to Mars on December the 4th-6th of 2014. I thought I would share the link in case there were others interested in having their name put on the shuttle as well. Myself and some of our family have already done so. The last day to submit is October 31st.

Spaceflight.... the ultimate challenge cloistered environment!! It's a pretty common theme in sci-fi about long duration spaceflight making people go insane. I tend to look back at the fiction and think that is how something like the Jedi (in a more interpretation) of the Star Wars fiction might have first developed, because long journeys in space would probably require the mental dedication of an advanced Yogi/monk. Until they invent hyperspace or deep sleep/hibernation. I sort of imagine them as being the first practitioners of deeper space flight. I guess the strain might be similar for colonization on non-habitual environments such as Mars. Though Mars is not that far, well depends what you need and when you need it I guess!!

Although I wouldn't get on that ship ...
For as admirable as the name might be ( ) the Orion propulsion system is a pretty dangerous bit of risk.
There are better ways.

From my understanding this is a test flight. I believe it is testing how new equipment and such. I could be wrong though.
