Hoping to start a reflective poetry thread here. It’s hard to find a place for good poetry these days. Though I may just be another level of nerd . Anyway, if you have a poem or two, let’s get a thread going!
I’ll start:
Nothingness
Wisdom said to Nothingness
I know you and your kind
But Nothingness said nothing
And Wisdom fell in line
The fall broke her in three pieces
The next more than the third
But both desired Wisdom
Who knew nothing of their words
Suddenly an echo
Dividing countless through the void
Where nothingness was dark and perfect
And the silence was destroyed
Once again a tremble
Found later in the dust
Still Nothingness does nothing
For there’s nothing that it must
In cycling ebb and flow
The lesser seeks the great
But nothing lies on either side
So neither is in the race
Light may guide all that moves
True as we can see
And Nothingness is nothing
That could really ever be
Still Nothingness is all around
And nowhere in between
And no one out there really knows
The only thing it means
As Wisdom is a circle
Each point knowing it’s own name
Nothingness is pointless
At which nothing can be aimed
I’ll start:
Nothingness

The fall broke her in three pieces
The next more than the third

Another one:
The Poison
There once was a man
Who heard of a devious plan
To poison the water
A poison that was meant
To make us all
Go insane
So he stalked up on good water
And built a fortress for himself
When all others drank the poison
Man, that guy could ponder like nobody else
This man is me
This man is you
He’s the gods and the devils truth
The world we all know
Has its places to go
But it’s up to you
Whether you end up drinking poison too
Well he kept to his fortress
With his water and his mind
But life without conversation
Made intellect to him seem blind
So he opened up his fortress
And sang to all what was done
But none would listen to him
See, they all thought he was the crazy one
This man is me
This man is you
He’s the gods and the devils truth
The world we all know
Has its places to go
But it’s up to you
Whether you end up drinking poison too
When he failed to reach them
And was outcast from their ways
He rethought his conditions
Said, hell I might as well just go insane
So he gave up all his water
What good was it in the end?
He finally drank the poison
And left his thoughts to the wind
See we’re all in this together
There’s no one to one’s self
Hate not who drinks the poison
Just like everyone else
All we can do is hold a tone
All we can on our own
But it’s always up to you
Whether you end up drinking poison too
The Poison
There once was a man

try another one
The Warrior
I said out to the timeless warrior
Abandon me to a life worthy as your brother
Permit me until then, stay your hand to whatever end
As I enter as one into the black
And return another
And I said out to the mountain at it’s feet
Abandon me to all your crushing stone
In its fall with all its humbling weight
I will gain way the more gentle I become
And I said out to the wind as it whirled
Abandon me to your whimsy and rage
In the strength and give that turns even all weather to its will
I will gain way, with every force I learn to disengage
And I said all
Come and face the warrior
Good and evil
Show me everything I am
Break me down
For every piece to be reborn
All you got is all I want
Come and face the warrior
And I said out to the depths of the sea
Abandon me to your endless sway in life and doom
I’ll find the currents to the mastery of all grace
To see your face
In all that comes to breathe and bloom
And I said out to the passion of fire
Abandon me to the beginning and the end
I’ll temper to the perfect ash
Born again a master of death
The living dead across creation and ruin
And I said all
Come and face the warrior
Good and evil
Show me everything I am
Break me down
For every piece to be reborn
All you got is all I want
Come and face the warrior
The Warrior

Got another one might be share-worthy
A Hero’s Journey - part 5 - Death
I came upon a precipice
Looking out across the Void
Who are you!? I cried out loud
Nothing there to be annoyed
My body broken, out of breath
No going back or forth
At an end my story seemed
Not even I knew of its worth
I waited there and forever stared
Into what could never be
The darkness stifled every thought I knew
Like all was lost to me
Left with only one more step
The one before the fall
That Cunning Voice would only whisper
You’re the one to make the call
I sank into the hopelessness
A place of memory
Like a final look behind me
Without the use to turn and see
I thought of every distant revelation
Among the worlds I chose
Playing backwards from this place I found
To the depths from which it rose
I remembered I had spoke in words
To take the worst of evil
The cunning voice with perfect timing
Said good for you to take on death
Now what has it revealed
I saw my life so far away
But all around in an instant
The threat of death was there to say
Why life is so important
My heart swelled then, stretched and cracked
Warmth and pain I’d never felt
I wished only to return
In the cold I’d never melt
I lost all sight of where I was
So thoughtless on I stepped
The fall was really nothing
But weightlessness at best
A swift pain before open skies
Revealing all the simplest forms
Every sound and every color
Giving life from death reborn
Floating firmly through the truth of it
What brought this place to me
My swelling heart burst with laughter
And broke at every seam
The Void in fact was everything
Awaiting a lightened heart
And soon became the world again
Un-stifled by the dark
