I'm actually interested to know...

When someone has more than one rank (i.e. is a Councillor and/or has a clerical rank), do people think they they should be displayed in the sig?

I feel left out. I'm about to appoint myself to a made up position that sounds cool and add it to my sig.

Desolous - The Bible Belt Missionary

he information about Knights and clergy and councillors and offices etc can all be found in the various documents around the site but I think it is good to have them on the forum as well. Lets people know who does what more easily etc...

Yes Jestor that was the post I remember

I don't mind the long sigs

they give me an insight on who the poster is.
sometimes they include philosophy so I can get a feeling on how they view life

I'm not usually much on forum sigs (and I think e-mail sigs that don't convey important information are da debbil), but it has been very helpful to me, still being relatively new here, to see so many people with these more-or-less standardized Jedi sigs mentioned above.

I can tell at a glance, anytime I'm reading a thread they've posted in, enough to know who to ask for help. I can tell what their SIG is (because sometimes you have questions only another rite can answer), and their rank (clerical or otherwise), which really help me pinpoint who might be best able to help me without starting a topic to ask.

It's also interesting for those who have their former Masters/Apprentices listed, because I'm curious to see what sorts of thoughts are passed down from that mentoring relationship, and how much they're changed along the way.

As someone who is still relatively new, I find it helpful to be able to see at a glance the relationship someone has with the temple. Perhaps im a bit formal but it helps with the manner in which I might address a query. I also find it really interesting when talking to people to be aware of who their Masters or Apprentices are/were.
