Hey guys, for a water filtration project (to soften it) I'm trying to grow crystals of different makeups to about generally the same dimensions for testing and evaluation (1/2" or ~13mm long by 1/4" or 6mm ±20% ea.). I'm fine with a decent size variance between crystal types so that different material geometries can be fairly compared, but want a bit more consistency for each varigate and I have no idea how to do that.
If you're either a chemistry buff (they're all water soluble and I'm just using a sub-saturated solution and letting them sit) or a new age (for lack of a better word) sort of person, I'd love to hear your ideas. My experience is limited to making rock candy and freshman chemistry in college.
