this conversation happened a few minutes ago in another thread:

Kyrin Wyldstar wrote: Do you consider yourself an anarchist then? Do you believe all governments should be eliminated? all education programs like public schools? All education degrees? your boss at work? Should we make every corporation a socialist organization where everyone gets an equal say?

Silas Mercury wrote: Yes - sort of. I think we need a functional Theocracy but one where all religions are accepted ..... The Jedi are just good people, and better than most. It makes sense.

Silas Mercury wrote: We have a unique perspective on life and how to live it, and it would benefit everyone. There would be no war, no starvation, we could end it all.

Brick wrote: Thats scary talk, its also derailing the thread. Can we keep on topic please

Silas Mercury wrote: Scary ?? It's heart lifting. I'm not an extremist or a fundamentalist, it's just that the world needs saving. And we're the closest thing the world has right now to superheroes. They're victimising the poor, they're chopping off heads, and we need to help humanity become what they once were. Good. Anyway, this is off topic. New thread if you like.

You start it, I'll comment

is this thread meant to be a continuation of that exchange?

I believe so OB1. I didn't realise he wanted a group.

Silas, your talk about there being no wars if we ruled the world is extreme. Its astronomically unlikely that any country, continent or planet would unanimously approve of a jedi 'government' (read dictatorship). To say a jedi run world would result in no wars is arguably accurate, but a nazi run world, isis run world, *insert any group here* run world would result in world peace. People wouldn't like it, people would be miserable, but there would indeed be no wars. For a time, until there was a global revolution (i dont like our chances).

We're not superheroes. We're not even heroes. We're just people.

What makes you think that humanity was ever 'good'?! (a highly subjective term btw). Or that they were once better for that matter? We are currently living in one of longest the eras of relative peace that humanity has ever known. By you're definition that makes humanity the' best' it's ever been. So what exactly needs saving?

All outward forms of change brought about by wars, revolutions, reformations, laws and ideologies have failed completely to change the basic nature of man and therefore of society. As human beings living in this monstrously ugly world, let us ask ourselves, can this society, based on competition, brutality and fear, come to an end? Not as an intellectual conception, not as a hope, but as an actual fact, so that the mind is made fresh, new and innocent and can bring about a different world altogether ? It can only happen, I think, if each one of us recognises the central fact that we, as individuals, as human beings, in whatever part of the world we happen to live or whatever culture we happen to belong to, are totally responsible for the whole state of the world.

~ J. Krishnamurti, "Freedom from the Known" p. 7

It is often easier to engage in "armchair politics " (like "armchair" war-fare or "armchair" sportsmanship) by which we know that everything would be so much better if we were in charge. That rarely proves to be true. It takes a lot of violence and suffering to impose instant radical change. Sometimes it seems that the 'revolution' has brought about a positive change, only to have to resort to the same authoritarian measures that it came to depose in order to retain authority. And then ... then, "authority" just starts being what it is : authority.

A populace that has become accustomed to sacrificing at the alter of individuality, who believe that equality doesn't imply distinctions governed by public utility, and that liberty means rights without responsibilities ... that populace would not be liberated by revolution, but condemned by it. Revolutions have leaders that become the leaders of the next regime (which resembles the one it dislodges). Forced equality incubates inequalities ; forced justice renders injustice.

Sure -- let's have a revolution. It'll be interesting to see what tyranny looks like with Jedi as tyrants, for tyranny is all it would be in the end ...

Wow, jut like that huh?

Based on what do you say this?

Lol if u must truly know, based on our own personal conversations and interactions. I believe in every human and their potential, even if I don't agree ... They , Silas , is the other part of my Personal Jedi ism as are you. Just cuz I don't agree doesn't mean to me your invalid. This is my ministry as well as life. My Jedi ism is a very real thing there for I don't say all life is worth, I prove it by my actions.
My hope it that thru what we read and learn here on the Temple will be manifested in life. I don't believe Silas in his personal stance on a few things but I got family I don't like too. I am Jedi. I try to ...put it into use. So yes I believe all life is sacred and valid. I swore to honor that very thing so here I am...that's all. No hurt intended no dissing or arguing, not my thing. Just action some days by...example hence forth....a underaged Jedi in my Temple being valid. That's all.

Then how do you account for me? I am a "Jedi" that would be violently opposed to implementing any world theocratic government, including Jediism, to the point of going to WAR over it. How do you stop this war if we are both Jedi?

I think you're cause would end, along with your life, at the hands of Kyrin

Is that what Hitler did? Allow himself to be killed in order to strengthen his cause? I don't see a Nazi one world govt so that didn't seem to work so well. When you cut off the head of the snake that tries to bite you, the body dies. It does not get stronger.

I did not compare you to Hitler, I simply used his example as an analogy. However if the shoe fits... What is it in your spirit that is not sitting well with you that you would see yourself as analogous to Hitler in my analogy?
