Well A looks more nicely drawn but I'm fairly sure that South America is further east than we normally give it credit for. As far as location goes I'm saying B.

One depicts it directly under America the other more to the east of it. So A or B?

OH oh oh ok I got you now! :D

B

Definitely B. I always remember that it sort of curves around the Caribbean.

 Both pictures look rather accurate.

The one to the east dosn't look at all close XD

A.....however...

Re-reading (Several times) I am starting to see more what your trying to say XD haha (Yes...I am out of it today!!)

I revise to B as well. The globe is round not straight up and down. SA is more angled off to the side or "Kitty Corner" as it were from NA.

I thought you meant the location of Greenland had a closer SHAPE of SA for some reason.....

I say b, because the continents' coasts should line up which makes me feel like south America 'sticks out' more than North America

It won't let me have a blank signature ...

I would say B is more accurate.

I live in Ecuador (South America), and our time zone is lined up with some family I have in Texas. I also have family in New York, which if I remember correctly is only +1 hour from Texas time-wise. But Brazil time is either +2 or +3 from where I am, so Brazil needs to stick out more to the East.

b would be a more accurate location, remember Pangaea...south america always looks as though if you took africa and pressed it up against south america it would tuck in neatly between north and south america....

:D The answer is B- South America is indeed closer to Africa.

Interestingly enough there is a belief that it's A by many people. They call it the Mandela effect, a belief that both are accurate in memory because two dimensions collided together at some point and small things were different (such as the death of Mandela being years prior to his actual death).

So I'm curious, why do you think a good chunk of the population believes South America to be as depicted by A than B in reality? Is it dimensional collision? Some sort of psychological construct that because it's underneath America it only really fits directly underneath? Etc?

A good chunk of the population sucks at geography. Simple.

They're both really bad. South america should go way more south in relation to africa, on both maps. Most of south america is in the southern hemisphere, most of africa is in the northern hemisphere.
