Good advice, I think.
Your thoughts?

I love it. It's amazing how different phrases can mean the same thing yet be very different. How you say something says a lot. Thank you for sharing this.

I need to print this off or write it down. Memorize it. Something.
Thank you so much for posting this!
I have another one I notice - I say, "I don't know..." after I've shared a thought or an opinion. It's really quite undermining to myself and sort of negates whatever it was I just said.
Now that I think of it I probably do that in a few different ways and it probably comes across really strangely to others.. perhaps even rude.

Thanks for that. I'm the usual "sorry" kind of person.

I do this too, sort of. I say things like a question rather than a statement. I used to do it a lot in school if I tried to answer a question out loud. I was just self doubt and fear of being wrong. I figured that if it sounded like a question then it would be more okay to be wrong.

I used to be very much the one on the right. After a time I came to realize I would undermine nearly everything I said. After a while, with lots of practice, I am now more like the one on the left. But having once been on the other side of feeling that way, I am able to see that in a person and respond in a way that doesn't make them feel like they need to apologize for merely existing. Compassion and empathy are of high regard to me because I have been there.
