I too have a sour feeling about Disney Star Wars. It hurts to see all the RPG gaming I did go to waste.

I dont understand this....How exactly was all the RPG gaming waste?

Aside the fact that gaming can waste ones time regardless.

Disney, and Star Wars cannot simply wipe away ones past, present, or future outlook.

Is the EU, or what you gained from it somehow invalid now?

I was no aare Disneys power reached so far....

Personally, for me, it has effected nothing. The media is still in print, or whatever format, and still valid, if it had any validity to me to begin with.

Nothing, especially the franchise changing hands, can change that.

Maybe wasted was the wrong word, but as I still play every so often, the "worlds" we created and explored have essentially been wiped of the Star wars map. Yes we still had fun playing and all that, but I feel that a big part of what I loved about the Lucas Star Wars and EU, died, like an old friend.

I was in Kohls department store the other day and I was appalled at the junk that now has the Star Wars logo. And I noticed that most of the items were dark side or bad guys. Very little good guy stuff. (I hope they are holding back until the movie comes out to hide a spoiler), but I doubt it. Materialism and the Evil Empire known as Disney are clouding the minds of our children.

I realize that much of the EU was rehashing story lines and simple writing styles, but it was what I came to know. All the Force abilities and the Yuuzhag Vong war was a big part of the last story line I was RPG'ing. OH Well...

And yes, all that stuff is still in print, but life moves forward and the EU story line will not. So I either jump to the new cannon or go back in the EU to a timeline I did not RPG.

Don't make too much of my dismay with Disney, and Lucas is a ^*$#*(&#@!, I just don't like the change.

OH YEAH...good to hear you are still going to post. I must have misunderstood your first post.

Sounds like I should play KOTOR.... to date I've only ever watched the cutscene collections on youtube

The emergence of the EU was what turned me off Star Wars... I felt it betrayed the potential as it felt cheap and nasty back way back, at least my limited initial exposure... so I missed all the EU stuff (and Jediism!) - until more recently. I've seen a little bit since then, but none of it is 'that' important to me when compared to the original trilogy.

I'm not in the artillery but I only give any credibility to what I think they call 'canon', ie released in the original format, and released broadly in a relatively accessible manner - no matter how kewl or meaningful, as some of my own theories mean much more to me then even the canon material, but I don't expect anyone to be aware or share it, so the nature of its existence is purely the attention I myself give it.

Well, he did put that fourteen-some-odd-billion dollars from the Lucasfilm sale to a project to build affordable housing for low income families from what I heard.

People really need to get a sense of perspective as per George Lucas, IMO.

Star Wars sale was 4 Billion and that was not the point of my comments. We all read here.

We are talking about the Star Wars franchise and not Mr Lucas as a humanitarian. I hate Windows and Bill Gates is a %*@&$@, but he has given so much money to schools and other interests that he has become one of those guys you "hate to love", as is Mr Lucas. I love that he created Star Wars, but I hate him for selling out to the Evil Empire of Disney. I think his humanitarian efforts are great, but wheres my share? (just kidding)

In life we must learn to separate the dualities. In this case Business and Personal. I dislike what both men did in the business world because I didn't like it, but I believe both are good men who are giving back for their great fortunes. For me, what they give back to society counts more.

Sorry everyone, I didn't mean to hijack this thread.

I don't know much about him beyond Star Wars. I was never a movie person, though I always appreciated that he created SW. All in all, he's a good guy, and I shouldn't direct my anger at him. Why? He's a film director. Of course he's not going to understand the Expanded Universe and what it meant for people. Movie people don't think that way.

By the way, I love the Mississippi Jedi logo (or whatever the right terminology is). Somebody should make one for Alabama :)

I feel it in no way affects my enjoyment of the KOTOR games and all they have taught me. Especially since it is all fiction so whichever part you want to be the "real" fiction is. I understand it is sad to see the people "officiating" the stories turn their back on great content though.
