It might mean historically, I think it does...
But, Id never seen it in print anywhere... You (Edan) said something about it the other day and I was unaware of it when you said that, cause I use me real name, lol, and when I saw it confirmed, I thought Id repost/recomment on it...

No. Facebook shouldn't. Facebook is intended as a space for people to be themselves online and started as a site restricted to college students. When they opened it up to the general public, their reasonings for the use of real names were the same as they were before, among them transparency and safety. Facebook has the right to do whatever it wants with its service, not least of which because by using that service, you agree to allow them to exercise that right.
Google should also, internally, maintain however it wants. The issue with YouTube (and the reason G+ integration sucks for it) isn't about privacy at all; it's about branding. There are many YouTubers who were forced to divulge their names who didn't want to, but there were just as many (if not more) who didn't mind giving out that information on their own as long as they could maintain their channel branding, which they were not allowed to do. It was forced, it was unnecessary, and it hurt views. That's why it was a bad idea for Google. It's still a very good idea for Facebook.
