If you have a person you share your life with in whatever capacity I have a question for you.
I was working on my apprentice assignment, had papers and books spread out all over the dining room table typing away when my husband came in and looked at my mess and asked what I was doing. I smiled and said my assignment that I have been working on.
That turned onto a large discussion of how he's interested but doesn't have the patience to do any formal study. I offered to help him and even if he didn't want to go for training he could at least be a member here but truthfully he doesn't read a lot and wouldn't post anyway. He's pretty supportive of me however and of course I do talk to him about things I'm up to and we did have a moment when I was accepted as an apprentice. We clinked glasses of milk together at the dinner table.
How many of you have partners that support/interested/curious about the Jedi path? Do you think its ever something you could do as a couple or do you already?
Just curious.

When I went to my last five-year family reunion, I told her I lived like a Jedi. This was before I knew about Jediism. I play "Star Wars: The Old Republic" a online MMO, when I tried to play a sith warrior and got literally phyisically sick from it, Rachel told me "You are just too nice to play a sith"
Now for a bit of background information: Though I am not legally married, I have been ( as the church calls it) "Living in Sin" with Rachel, a woman I met six years ago. We have a five year old son together, and treat each other in every way like we are married. She is very supportive of my studies and so is my son Aiden. He is always telling me he wants to become a Jedi, just like daddy. I honestly do not know if Rachel could be a part of Jediism, she is very opinionated and has certain beliefs about religion. I know she supports me in me learning my Jediism studies. When we first met, she introduced me to the online game "Star Wars Galaxies: An empire divided" and played a commando in that game. She was complimented for "being one of the best kick @ss mandos in game" by many veterans of the game. She then went on to play Star Wars: The Old Republic game with me, and made a Smuggler Gunslinger that killed just about everyone in Player vs. Player ( Pvp) and got a reputation for being one "Bad-@ss gunslinger for being a chick" in game. We still play Star Wars: The Old Republic together and have fun helping each other out. However, that is about where it ends.

Nope, at least not for awhile. Though Ms Adder is somewhat interested in the Buddhist aspects of my Jedi path perhaps because they are more accessible to her, and I think she would be interested in anything she thought useful to her own growth... if she had time to focus on herself more. Given time we'd probably end up at the same place and she loves Bladerunner so I'd be able to get her to use a glow in the dark umbrella

I've been open with my husband about my experiences on the Jedi path from the beginning and he's been very supportive. He cares about it because it's important to me, but it doesn't interest him on a personal level.
I believe he still identifies (to some extent) with secular humanism, so he's not especially drawn to spirituality in general. However, he does practice mindfulness meditation, and I think that's helped build a bridge of understanding between my belief system(s) and his.
Fortunately, he's pretty tolerant and accepting. I've dragged him to everything from Huna gatherings to Vodou fets. I think he actually finds those experiences somewhat fun and fascinating, but not fascinating enough that he wants to be involved with any of it.
It sounds like your husband is very cool and supportive as well, Roz. That's awesome. There are many people in the community that can't talk to their significant others about Jediism without problems arising.
In my case, Jediism is not something I will likely ever experience with a partner, but that doesn't bother me. I'm independent and a little rebellious when it comes to spirituality anyway. There are definitely Jedi couples out there, though I'm not sure how common that is.

Mrs Kav will never see it as anything more than a Star Wars thing, and as such will never take it serious. She will never admit that the things she loves the most about me are the things that come from Jedi teaching.

I've had ex-girlfriends who have thought I was crazy. In their defense, I probably am off my rocker a bit. Luckily, my current special friend is almost more of a spiritual lover than a conventional girlfriend. And, she's very accepting of everything I try to do. She doesn't believe in restricting my beliefs at all, even if she would rather not do the training herself. In fact, she is coming to the gathering next year to hang out with my fellow Jedi.
I'm very lucky.
In terms of my parents, they cope with it by believing it is something I'll grow out of. But, they don't complain because I'm not overly loud about it to their friends, and they trust my training mentor (whom they know).

I joined here January 2012 and my husband came around May of the same year. He's done a little of the Initiate Program as well.
