I'm grateful for friends who believe in me, even when I don't believe in myself

In my middle age, I find I'm grateful just for waking up in the morning and being able to continue my experience in the grand suffering of life. Everything after that is icing on the cake. Like Paul Newman once said, any day I wake up is a good day.

Today I am grateful for those around me willing to create a dialogue without letting emotion get the better of them. We will work through this, but we must keep the open and honest communication.

Today, I'm grateful for my family doctor.
Earlier this afternoon, as I was doing a long-overdue update regarding my surgery from a few months ago, I sheepishly asked about "hardcore" painkillers.
After I was done convalescing from the surgery, I had about a dozen dilaudid (hydromorphone) left. Since the surgery, my period pain/symptoms have been a LOT worse, so I took a leftover dilaudid on 1-2 of the first days of my cycle out of desperation...and it worked like a charm, on ALL the physical symptoms.
I asked if she'd be willing to keep prescribing them to me for only those days, seeing as I only take 1 pill on 1-2 days per month. And she was 100% ok with it! Because I've been seeing her for 6 years and am clearly not an addict, she had "no problem" with my idea. And she gave me 30 pills, which will last me at least a year!
So now I'm so relieved because I know now that I'll be able to function on those awful days, especially at work!
