So, yeah, it's a kid story. I don't tell people at work my kid stories because they just roll their eyes and don't really care....I'll see how it plays out here, haha.
My oldest boy tells me with a devilish grin:
"I'm such a sneak...I'm the sneakiest sneek around! I sneak things that don't belong to me!"
He says this as he's running away with my cell phone that he has taken out of my pocket without me realizing it.
One more...
I'm at the car wash and I can't find my keys anywhere. I later find them in my 4 year old's pocket. He then replies: "I tip-toe, tip-toe, tip-toe and take the things I like best! Sneaky sneak!"
Again, with that devilish grin.
I've tried everything to tell him stealing is wrong; I've even pulled out the old "it makes Jesus cry if you steal" thing. (I was desperate; I couldn't find my keys for, like, 10 mins at the car wash!)
That little 'Darth', pick-pocket...

Ah, tough one.
I suppose you are looking for some insight on the matter at hand.
Well, I am too young to know what it is to educate a child, but in my opinion this has to be stopped right now, even if it is through punishment (not necessarily phisical). He is too young, and if you let him get on with that "hobbie" you are going to be responsible for him missing a fundamental value. At that age it is not worth it trying to explain why it is wrong, he wouldn't understand anyways. You have to be cathegorical.
Because of the age I presume he has not, but it seems like he has been playing Skyrim

well there's two obvious ways to do it, punishing and telling but they both have flaws
punishing will make them resent you
telling them why it's wrong may not work
a way my dad brings me up is to show me why it's wrong, like what can happen if you do do it, just don't go extreme enough to scare them...
But you shouldn't blame this on yourself, I doubt you would have taught them to steal.

your boys sound like me when i was younger. well you should try to teach them the jedi path. but young boys do tend to be sneaky. if they do play skyrim, take away skyrim. i know how addictive it is. also if they do become rebels and dont do what you ask like do the washing up or clean the car but they shout and screem then youshould get the answer to your question that i never read. i just like helping:)

[strike]First, you get them in gymnastics, then rock climbing, then maybe a lock pick class, um, I mean a instructional video, or course on lock smugging....
Then, you travel the country, with the youngest cat burglers ever, its foolproof!!
Who would suspect, its perfect....
Oh, forget that skyrim advice, have them play that, and Assassin's Creed, some Grand Theft Auto, I'm sure there are others.... [/strike]
Ge sounds mischevious....
My advice is this... My wife disagrees... (lol, imagine that...)
You can't reason with a four year old, using reasoning of an adult...
Unfortunately, you have to reason like a child.... Swat on the butt, or he takes your toy, you take his....
That's my advice... lol...
A child is born as an animal, through our teachings, and hopefully their own mental reasoning, they get further from animal, and closer to the devine....
Good luck!

great!
I am with Jestor, you can't teach your boy as an adult, teach him as as a child.
This sounds a bit crazy, but it works much better than punishment or teaching like a teacher.
Ask him: "Whoaa...you little sneak, what a trick! Show me how you did that!"
After that ask him why he's sneaking and show him alternatives... all with the eyes of kid,
But I think this is nothing more than a game and a try to check out his skills.
And after all... children got a natural feeling of the force and like Yoda said: "wonderfull the soul of a child is."

Haha...you all are taking this more serious than I am...I should've put more lols and smiley faces in the post, ha!
No, I'm not that worried; he's a really good boy, he just likes to "tease" as he says. We'll work it out and it won't be that big of a deal.
But Master Jestor had some good ideas that he shouldn't have crossed out!

I say you definitely should embrace the dark side and use your kid to make some money. Using a 4 year old for child labour is bound to get you the force lighning power.

This is too funny!
He sounds like an adorable four year old, if you ask me. The key part is the best and I hope he does it again lol
Darth Pick-pocket haha
