I was at the cinema with my 6 year old daughter and we just loved it (in 3D of course)... Rapunzel: Tangled.

The storyline is just about loosely based on the original children's fairy tale. Here, the princess Rapunzel is stolen by a witch and imprisoned in an almost-inaccessible tower as the witch needs the power from Rapunzel's golden hair in order to stop ageing. Of course, Rapunzel grows up and as she reaches 18, she decides that she wants to explore outside the tower.

That's when a vagabond, fleeing from the King's soldiers, seeks refuge in the tower, and Rapunzel's adventures begin.

The animation is truly wonderful, especially the effects accorded to Rapunzel's hair, when it waves in the breeze or when she is moving. There are numerous other examples too, but it would be churlish to concentrate just on this.

The songs are done very well, particularly as it's not a musical where the film is worked around the songs; instead, here, it's a few songs that are included into the storyline from time to time.

While indeed very different from the original, the storyline is imaginative and ever-changing. Young children will be delighted with the animal (as opposed to animated) characters of Rapunzel's pet chameleon and the soldier's horse which have many of the best bits in the script.

Probably the best animated Disney film since Aladdin, with spectacular animation which will return adults to their childhood and will entertain children to bits!
