for clarification was created by RyuJin
recently there seems to be some misinterpretation. it's understandable in textual communication that this would occur as one cannot see body language or hear the tone of the voice to help determine intent.

it's also understandable that some are more prone to taking offense easily then others. this is why we must control our emotions and use our minds(to avoid taking offense when there is none intended)

as to me i'm pretty much indifferent, i don't take offense at anything, and don't intend offense to anyone.

just for clarification of the rules i'm providing a link to them, hopefully this takes care of any offense that may have been perceived.

I'm not sure if I'm ALLOWED to respond but OHH well here goes.

Sweeti, when your pointing your finger its alright to say my name. And I must also had that a TRUE JEDI doesn't have rules about who can and can not say or respond to said comments. Well that is if this isn't a cult anyway.

Look deep within your heart and find the path of logic and your way will be clear.

Long Life Good health my young friend.

i put this in the general topic forum so anyone can post in it.

it's not our way to single out anyone when reminding of the rules, we try to keep things generalized.

the rules are in place to make things easier for everyone involved, and we are not restricting anyone from responding to any comments, we simply ask that if they see something in someones journal they'd like to comment on that they open a thread in general discussion. this way everyone can comment on it without cluttering up the journals

my way is crystal clear, but it seems that some consider their age to be a means of guaranteeing special privileges etc... having worked around people of various ages i long ago learned that age is nothing but a number, it does not mean that one person is superior or entitled to get their way simply because they are older. i'm not as young as many would think, and i'm far more mature then many my own age and older.

it seems that you take offense at the drop of a hat, even when no offense is intended.

i was simply trying to point out the rules in a manner that would be generalized and kind....in contrast to a manner such as what master tiamat would use or some of our other more assertive masters.

think of totjo as a school.
the knights and masters are the teachers. we have to teach, help, answer questions, and guide.

the initiates and apprentices are students, and their journals are their homework. when we were in grade school it was ok to talk to other students before and after class(sometimes during class depending on the subject) but it was usually never ok for one student to write or do another students homework.

Sammy,
Just because you may be the inspiration for this post (and anyone reading some of your recent posts can see that), it doesn't mean that you're the only one it's directed at. It is a good idea for us to remind members of core ideals every so often. Quite frankly, I'm surprised that you've been a member of this site for a year and claim to not be aware of basic regulations, despite them being clearly signposted in the FAQ and training programme details. So maybe this post is necessary after all!

As RyuJin has said, the rules are not on how tyo live your life, or even how to be a Jedi, but instead regulate the use of this site. An information resource of this size needs a structure; for example, things should be filed in the right place so that it's easy to find them again. Rules such as \"no swearing\" or \"respect people's private journals\" are there so that we can all enjoy this site in an atmospere of mutual respect.

To re-iterate, journals are there for those members who wish to learn the ways of Jediism as defined by our Order. Using the excellent metaphor employed by Br. Ryujin, these are the records that belong to those students and as such should only be commented on (beyond initial introductions) by those of us who have undergone the process ourselves and have dedicated time and effort to learning as much of these ways as possible so that we can adequately advise others on them.

So please (and this goes out to ALL members) familiarise yourself with the basic etiquette of this site and respect the regulations that have been debated, discussed and implemented for a reason: the intended smooth and trouble-free use of this site by everyone.

On the subject of non-discrimination, members who have signed the Oath have sworn to uphold this as one of the basic ideals of Jediism. Anyone of the rank of Knight or above has also sworn additional vows to uphold this principle. To suggest that someone has intentionally broken this commitment is a serious allegation (the breaking of a vow may also result in disciplinary action) so I would urge all members to consider whether or not there is an actual basis for such a claim before making it.

Mark you said, 'Quite frankly, I'm surprised that you've been a member of this site for a year and claim to not be aware of basic regulations, despite them being clearly signposted in the FAQ and training programme details'.

Yer,,,,,,,,, find formalities like those dictorial, so i aint read them. Jedi is a faith or path of substance of structure of mind and body, not structured formats to be immatated. That is not to say that it doesn't suit you gentlemen very well.

Allow me to me frank and to the point. I get the feeling that your saying. DO IT OUR WAY OR GET OUT AND STAY OUT.

And as for taking offence at the drop of a hat, well that statement couldn't be farther from the truth. I have teenage dughters and for anyone who has teens will know full well what I'm talking about. They through insults at you constanely all day long. Nothing anyone at THE TEMPLE who respond to my posts, can compete with my teenage daughters

I will repeat my assertion that the rules are there to ensure that everyone can enjoy and use this site without problem, NOT to regulate anyone's life or experience of Jediism. Imagine being in a library with \"Quiet please\" signs on the walls, trying to study. How annoying would it be if someone was to walk through singing at the top of their voice? Or if you ignored a \"wet paint\" sign and got it all over your clothes?

As we have always said: membership is a privilege, not a right. We have rules in place for a reason and if you CHOOSE not to follow them, then you don't have to be here. It's entirely up to you and no-one is asking you to leave. But we do ask that you respect the decisions that we have made for the benefit of the whole of our community.

We are always interested in a diverse range of opinions so please tell us why you think these rules are so abhorrent. Perhaps we can learn from your perspective too.

It doesn't seem to be all that bad. the rules are just elaborations on a lot of common curtsey's, not any hard rules to have to memorize. I would want to read my journal and have it turn into a running chat...that'd no longer be a journal. There are younger members here and setting a good example is a great thing to contribute to the future. Instead of having younger members see us bicker amongst ourselves about what a Jedi is or isn't and what it means to be open minded or fair, that they see us putting those things into action. We could type till we're blue in the fingers about etiquette, or we can have patience with one another and show it instead...Not sure how this applies here directly, just a passing thought as I read along. I know my issue when I get frustrated is to put words in others mouths...I've gotten much better about it, but sometimes it's hard to take things at face value when emotions run high.
