The author/artist for C&H rocks. He introduced me to philosophy at an age when I didn't even know what the word meant.

Hahah! This is so true! I should try this trick with my parents when I'm home this summer. I'll get a good laugh for sure.

I wonder what people mean by "living the simple life." Even with all the stuff I buy, all the money I put into martial arts, etc....I dont find life all that complicated.

Work, and play.

Seems to me people live a more complicated life by trying to live and talk about living this simple one I keep hearing about.

Also, that simple life people idealize, if you actually had to live it, isnt all that simple. Kind of like the people that want to "get back to this or that." People who had no other choice would hardly have called such a life simple.

I think the simple life here refers to a lack of the mental and emotional clutter that we allow into our lives without thought or examination.

Woah, I've been behind on the times! Calvin's dad joking about terrorism with a faux sinister smile! Been a while since 1995. I remember Calvin's dad being into Thoreau.

Good post, Brenna!

Ever see the movie Branded? I wrote this about it (Spoilers) http://www.wikinut.com/branded%3a-the-most-terrifying-movie-ever/12e0cp57/8_f9f8yo/

They Live is pretty good too.

I just remembered one of the many reasons why I drink.

At this point in my life, I'm not sure how I feel about "Order" having a shelf-life.

Complicated life = filled with meaningless mental/emotional clutter we don't bother to get rid of. Usually nonsense fed to us from external sources that we accept without questioning.

Simple life = Lack of meaningless mental/emotional clutter

Yeah, simple in 'simple life' is idealised as 'harmonious' when I hear about it. Harmonious as opposed to chaotic is probably a good way of distinguishing it.
