I'm never sure how I should react to JarJar bashing threads. I've read plenty of threads from diehard SW fans who don't even consider Phantom Menace to be part of the canon purely due to that one character. Personally I found him sort of annoying but I'm pretty sure kids love him. I do wonder, from time to time, whether he will be accepted in the same way that we accept the fuzzy little twits called Ewoks. I mean, come on, could they really organise themselves to overpower a well-coordinated deathsquad in the way they are shown?

Is it because he is childish, and we first came across him as adults, and cannot accept such traits in another adult. Yet, as children watching the Ewoks, we could accept them being childish. Oh, hang on a minute... I might be showing my age here. I should point out that I was a child that grew up with the Ewoks and met JarJar as an adult. Not everyone on this site will be in the same category!!!

Maybe if, like the Ewoks, JarJar didn't have an English speaking role, things would've turned out differently. :pinch:

I paused for a second and tried to analyse his character because I still find it remarkable (unbelievable?) that he was promoted to General and then all the way to the Senate (what exactly was his job in there, apart from giving emergency powers to Palpatine?). But then, consider these attributes:

He's selfless. He offered himself as a "life-debt" to QuiGon (however worthless that may seem!!)
He's tolerant. We only get a glimpse of the Gungan psyche, but the leader (at least) appears quite racist. JarJar, on the other hand, speaks freely with all races and manages to unite the two Nubian races.
He lives for the moment. He does not appear at all greedy or interested in power.
He is peace-loving, humble, and honest.
He's a twit.

Yeah... it's the last one. Without that, he's practically Ghandi.

Ps. Um... sorry for hijacking the thread.

Why? There are soooo many other really good reasons to pretend it doesn't exist!

I just hope Episode 7 gets back to the important business of pod-racing...

Joking aside, I love the prequels. Just.. not everything in them.

Well,this didnt start that way....;)

One picture does not make a Jar-Jar bashing thread... Although, in a thread of 2 posts, three councting yours, and now two others, I guess you turned it that way, lol...

Thats ok, Wes is protected... lol...

Thank you! I'm so glad I'm not the only Jar Jar defender around. You said it perfectly! :)

Ewoks weren't great either. Harrison Ford's facial expression when Warwick Davis humped him isn't an act. He thought the whole thing was a bit of a joke.

The whole "star wars is for kids" thing is complete nonsense. And it starts right at the beginning of "a new hope". People get killed with blasters, strangled to death, then there are Jawa mass killings, uncle owen and his wife are found charred, bar fights end in death/amputations, etc... And need I mention the genocide of every living thing in the asteroid field once known as Alderaan? Having a funny character doesn't make this somehow more suitable for children than blue sideboobs in Mass Effect.

Anyway, it is possible to attack a human using a computer virus (and I'm not talking about our real-life cyborgs, but a regular PC with speakers and a regular non-chipped human). The tinfoil won't help though.
