Yoda has said, "only sith deal in absolutes"
Yet Yoda's most famous line is: "do or do not, there is no try"
An absolute.
Ergo.... Yoda is a sith.....
Discuss.

I think that is more of an observation than a belief. When trying, you either succeed in doing something, or fail in doing something. Therefore, you either do, or do not. There is no such thing as trying.

True, but in both cases (this one and the "do or do not") he is referring to observational absolutes, not moral absolutes. I think that, contextually (if I recall the movie right), he is referring to Sith operating in moral absolutes.

wasn't it ewan mcgregor who said that line? It was I'm just pointing out your lack of knowledge.
Also, don't define a sith by values or philosophy. I define them by their actions. Yoda didn't do jack but smoke weed and live in mud

Trying means that you go like "hey, let's see how things go, and maybe next time...", but if you do something with your whole heart and fail, you're on the right path. No absolute with that, I think.

Guess I can't argue with that. Good point!

Br. John, I'm sure he's speaking about the phrase, "Only a Sith deals in absolutes." It was in Revenge of the Sith when Obi-Wan realizes that Anakin had been consumed by hatred and evil and that he'd turned to the dark side.
