Reiki was created by
As there has been discussion that some people want to have a reiki thread I thought I may as well create one and let people come in and give their thoughts on the subject. What they have learned, the methods they find the most useful etc

So here we go:

Are there different types of reiki? Is one more effective than the other? What's the difference between the various ranks of reiki organisations?

Those are just sample questions to get the topic rolling

Wonderful initiative, Akkarin ...!

It would be beneficial and also just so joyfully interesting to learn this art (as much as one can learn in a discussion forum, which is still quite a lot).

Reiki is like many things. We have many branches. The best branch is my own style! Ok just kidding the best branch of Reiki is the one that the person is drawn to to use.

If anyone would like to find out more about Reiki, its history, and various aspects of the practice of Reiki, I recommend The Reiki Sourcebook. It was written by Frans and Bronwen Steine who were taught several styles of Reiki including traditional Japanese styles that were unknown to the West until a couple of decades ago. They also taught my Japanese-style Master (who in turn taught me!)
