I have been taking advantage of wearable fitness technology for about a year now, and the results it has brought me are rather impressive. The device,a fitbit, tracks my sleep patterns, heart rate, calorie expenditure, as well as general physical activity.

My health has improved substantially since I began using the device, and this is only entry level as far as health technology goes.

It seems that people, myself included, are eager for more and more augmentations to come out in these areas, even pushing development through donations and free market research to these companies.

Much of this data is easily accessible through the internet, with little security protection offered in terms of who can access it. This also has upsides and downsides, but personally I don't want my health status being open forum to any and all who may take an interest in it.

I would be interested in seeing what the Jedi here think on augmentation technology and how many currently use it.

Well I've been curious about this sort of thing all my life. I'm really interested in learning exactly how this device has helped you though, could you go more into detail about how it's had an effect on your life since getting it?

Too expensive for me for what it offers at the moment, but as an advocate of extropian principles I like the intention... though I'm not keen on being a guinea pig for implants etc. I don't rekcon wifi or mobile signals are particularly healthy for example. So I'm a bit torn on it. Looking forward to VR though next year!

I think use what you can and be a better person but embrace and never distance yourself from your humanity.

Be happy, live well, love, do good work, be kind, honest and true to yourself. Can anyone do better than that?

I no longer overeat, the fitbit model I have, a Charge HR measures calorie expenditure through a combination of heart rate monitoring as well as general activity level. This combined with the built in food tracker in its app allows me to track how many calories I am taking in so I can keep from going "over budget". Combined with another application - myfitnesspal, I can also measure nutrient intake such as cholesterol, sodium, sugar, protein, vitamins, and carbs.

My resting heart rate continues to go down to a healthier measurement, as I now have daily goals and reminders set to reach in terms of activity. My overall heart health has improved through making lifestyle changes based on feedback from the device.
