'Died: Yusai Sakai, 87, one of only three Buddhist monks since 1571 to twice complete the rigorous Kaihogyo , a seven-year ordeal of fasting and running. Those unable to complete it are expected to take their own life.'
badass. have any of you buddhists heard of this before?

Hell yea!! Those guys are spiritual athletes par excellance!! I am working on Shingon training and hope to be able to experience something like that when I go to Japan.
As a hiker here in Colorado, I'd also like to get a circuit between some of the sacred places here as well- Jedi style
