PASTORAL CARE AND COUNSELLING- DEFINITION
Pastoral care and counselling is the healing, sustaining, guiding, personal/societal formation and reconciling of persons and their relationships to family and community by religious (Jedi)representatives (ordained or lay) and by their faith communities, who ground their care in the menological* perspective of that faith tradition and who personally remain faithful to that faith through spiritual authenticity.
*menology = study of the Force - Greek menos (life-force) + Greek logos (word)

Pastoral Care or Counselling is a ministry to any person who is experiencing a period of personal, social, physical, material, mental, spiritual or moral stress or change. Pastoral care reaches out to such people wherever they are suffering or are in development offering both consolation and support in whatever form is appropriate at the time. The type of support needed may also vary from day to day. The Minister must accept all irrespective of their condition, their confession, ethnic background or status. Jedi Ministers must also respect their own respective menological position or tradition as well as not push an agenda of proselytization on the client. In fact, where faith beliefs differ there must be an acceptance of the common elements that exist in all religions and provide reassurance and support through their own faith.
