Thank you for that reminder Master Sarus. This confideciality or as some may call it confession does not however include issues of the Temple, happenings or regular conversation. This does have to have a setting and in mutual agreementon from both parties. The Minister taking confession is then obliged to keep everything confidential no matter what is said providing the confessor shows willingness to change his or her ways. Only in this productive action does confession have its sense. Anything else is nothing more than personal discretion.

This is very important.
In a matter of confession to the clergy which is a priest or bishop as long as it is a private communication - no third party or witnesses - we cannot tell anything you have done in the PAST even if it is murder.
If you tell us you are going to commit a crime in the FUTURE we are obligated to do what is necessary to protect you or another person.
A minister or deacon cannot take a confession under the seal.
Breaking the seal of confession is the gravest crime in our cannon law and incurs automatic excommunication.

Blast from the past...
Since it has been brought up from forum graveyard, it is worth nothing that one thing John said is outdated: http://www.templeofthejediorder.org/clergy
Deacons do in fact carry the burden of the confession seal now. (see, I was paying attention in seminary!)
Um.. we've had talks about what it means for confession at TOTJO... I don't think we ever worked out a good system. *shrugs*

These things require more training than TOTJO offers, and is qualified to provide...
Many years of traditional scholing for some of these...
We just lean more toward the spiritual counseling, and someone to listen...
