General Assembly of the Clergy Aug 19, 2023

Attendance:
Pastor Carlos.Martinez3, Master Rosalyn J, Master Alexandre Orion, Cleric JPAdkins. The clergy was also pleased to have in attendance: Apprentice The Coyote and Apprentice Antares
What are we doing:
Master Alexandre: Working on finalizing the 16 teachings with Master Loudzoo. The biggest change to the draft presented in July  will be that Teaaching 5 will be changed to Locksley’s version. Final version will be presented to Council by the end of next wek. Master Alexandre also asked what the expected timeline was for the 21 maxims to be completed. Both Pastor Carlos and Master Rosalyn J suggested taking as much time as needed. Priority is for theme to be done well rather than being rushed.
Paster Carlos: Working on the logistics of a prison ministry and getting resources out to those who would like to minister in their locales. Right now it is just him, but many people do reach out via their family members looking for resources while they are incarcerated. Also, there is an opportunity for ministry with “Contact the Clerrgy”. Clergy leadership does keep an eye on the inbox and respond, but we would value some help there. Finally, Pastor Carlos and Locskey are looking to create a larger opportunity for meditations in the winter months. Two months (8 weeks) in the winter in which a variety of live meditations with lessons for how to perform them independently will be completed. We need volunteers for that. Currently the calls have gone out to Knights and now also to the Clergy. We want as many different people and perspectives as we can get.
Cleric JP Adkins: Looking to bring Clear Sundays to the Temple. Clear Sunday’s includes a meditation, a message and an opportunity for those attending to share what is on their heart. For this reason, it cannot and should not be recorded. As soon as he is able, he’d like to offer that to the Temple. 
Master Rosalyn J: Jedi-CAN is under a revamp. We are engaging in monthly themes: this month has been homelessness. We completed 3 kyber beacons this month so far, one specifically focused on Maui, who has many people that are affected and displaced. We also have a Weekly meditation slot at 4:30 PST. We also have the opportunity to explore organizations and resources that assist with those who are homeless. For example, this month, Roz assisted Angie’s Closet is distributing food to individuals who were food insecure in my community. Many of these individuals were homeless. Beginning next month, Roz will also be volunteering with a local hospice organization. Roz is currently in training. Never done this before so good thoughts/energy appreciated.  Jedi-CAN is actively recruiting for individuals to assist in various capacities. Just message Ally or Rosalyn J with questions and how to get involved. Jedi CAN is also exploring a mass text messaging option so that individuals interested can be readily aware of when meditations and other activities will happen

What Are We Seeing?

Time Management issues
Class on Burnout? Resources and Videos to be posted in the forum. A live course with a panel will be announced by the first week of September. Additionally, September’s theme for sermons will be changed to focus on Burnout and Time Management. Question as to whether that requires a council vote: no. Clergy has the prerogative to minister to what is seen rather than to hold to a theme if necessary.

Good Feedback from Summer Camp
We did end up having the a lot of people joining the discord without accounts after the summer camp, so the invite link was changed to a new link and posted in the Chat section of the forum. The other link has been deactivated.

Good time for a recharge and to set the direction for the year?
Potential Theme: Meditations(?) Would people run out of things to say like they did with “Service”? Could we instead devote one slot a day to a meditation with a lesson with the culminating meditation at the end of the week? Good idea
What do we think about having other Orders present during winter? The idea has good potential. There are some concerns with who might present from each Order. We have enough time to have discussions about how to ensure that who presents and what they present is in line with what TOTJO wants to represent. The question will be further discussed and a plan presented at next months General Assembly of the Clergy
